What is an introduction ?An Introduction speech is an opener written to introduce the speaker and the subject they will be talking about.

➢ An introduction is supposed grab the audience attention and interests

- Don’t assume the audience will just listen

- Should be 10 to 15 percent of your speech

➢ Present the purpose of your speech- Speaker should know what they are

talking about- This reminds the speaker to not get off

task ➢ Give reasons to listen

- Establish a connection with the audience

- How is it useful to the audience ? ➢ State your main ideas➢ Have a claim (optional, depends on what
