A waiver is a temporary extension that gives the vehicle owner extra time to make additional repairs before the next time the vehicle is due for emissions testing. Only one waiver, valid for one test cycle can be issued in the lifetime of the vehicle. A vehicle must meet all requirements listed below to be eligible for a waiver. HOW TO USE THE VEHICLEEMISSION REPAIR INDEX (VERI)This document is a resource for customers who are choosing a facility to perform repairs to a vehicle that is not passing an emissions test. The Vehicle Emission Repair Index (VERI) shows how successful Indiana Certified Emission Repair Facilities are when repairing vehicles that are failing or rejecting. In addition to basic information about each facility, this chart includes the number of vehicles each facility has repaired in a 12 month period and the number of those vehicles that passed after repairs. The shops with the most success will have numbers that are close to each other.
WHAT QUALIFIES A FACILITYFOR STATE CERTIFICATION?To become Indiana Certified Emission Repair Facilities, a facility must employ at least one technician who has completed an extensive 60-hour training course in the diagnosis and repair of emissions failures. This course is designed specifically for the requirements of the Indiana Clean Air Car Check program and is offered yearly. These facilities also maintain specific equipment and tools that are necessary to properly diagnose and repair emissions failures. Only repairs performed by facilities listed in this document will apply toward a waiver on a vehicle that is newer than model year 1981.
