Why?

• To give a real life starting point and context to our ‘Incredible India’ unit.

• To creatively teach some of the geography Programmes of Study.

• To engage and motivate the children from the outset.

How can we make it real?• Suitcases were brought in containing

a change of summer clothes.• The children were given passports

and boarding passes.• A map of the world was given to plot

the flight path to India.• A pilot podcast was created to create

a realistic atmosphere.• A video was shown to simulate the

take off from London Heathrow.• In flight food and entertainment.• The children were given Rupees to

buy food.

The Passport

• Was made using a Publisher template.

• Had a copy of the British passport cover.

• Was completed by the children before the flight.

• Was checked and stamped when leaving London Heathrow Airport.

The boarding pass

• Was made to look realistic, including the Air India logo.

• Was stamped as they left LHR.

• Was torn as they boarded the plane so that they could be shown to their seats.
