INT. A DARK WAREHOUSE

LOW ANGLE. TRUCK RIGHT from behind a box to reveal a man(JACK) tied to a chair struggling to break free. His mouthis covered with tape.

MS. His face is bloodied and beaten. He is visiblydistraught and in pain.

A shadowy figure (MORTY) walks into frame holding analuminum baseball bat. He tosses the bat onto the ground.

MORTYWhen you say you want to do thingsthe hard way, well make sure youdo it the hard way.

Morty walks up to the chair, gets down on one knee, and ripsoff the tape.

Jack looks up at Morty in anger and in pain.

MORTYYoure a tough one, you know.Loyal. Honorable. You dont breakfor anyone. I admire that. But Imonly going to give you one morechance to fess up.

JACK(snapping back, angrily)

Or what?

Morty pulls a knife out of his pocket.

MORTY(smiling subtly)

Or Ill use this right here andslice you up and feed you to thedogs before you get a chance to sayotherwise.

CU of the twos faces facing each other.

MORTYSo Ill ask you one more time.Wheres the money?

Jack sits silently with his face down.

MORTY(yelling)

WHERES THE MONEY?!

Morty begins punching Jack.

MORTY(angrier)

WHERE IS IT?! TELL ME WHERE IT IS!

JACK(wincing)Im not telling you.

MORTY(interrupting)

TELL ME!

Jack remains silent. Morty also sits in silence and rubs hisface in distress.

After a few seconds of silence, a phone rings in Mortyspocket.

MORTY(smiling)

Perfect. You dont wanna answer tome? Answer to my boss.

Morty answers the call, and places the phone in front of thechair.

MORTYYeah, boss?

A faint old woman begins speaking through the phone.

MORTYS GRANDMAMorty?

Morty sits for a few seconds, confused.

MORTYS GRANDMAMorty? Are you there, honey?

MORTYGrandma?

Morty quickly rises and turns away from the chair.

MORTYS GRANDMA(cheerful)

Morty! Its been so long! How haveyou been?!

MORTYI uh-- Ive -- fine. Ive beenfine. Listen, grandma, this isntuh-- this -- this isnt really thebest time.

Jack notices it isnt who Morty expected and begins toscream wildly.

JACK(frantically)

HELP! HELP!

Morty turns back around and punches Jack again, silencinghim. He then begins to place tape on his mouth again whilstholding the phone against his cheek with his shoulder.

MORTYS GRANDMA(interrupting)

Is someone with you? I thought Iheard a noise.

MORTYOh, oh, yeah. Yeah. Just someone inthe background. I uhm, I dont knowif right now is--

MORTYS GRANDMA(interrupting again)

Oh! Are you out with your friend?Oh, what was his name? Josh?George? Joey?

MORTY(interrupting, annoyed)

Jacob. Yes. Jacob. That was 15years ago, Grandma. Listen, though.I really need to go right now--

Morty gets up from placing the tape on Jacks mouth andwalks a few feet away from the chair.

MORTYS GRANDMAOh, yes. Jacob. I remember Jacob.Such a nice young boy.

MORTYYeah. Yeah, Jacob. Listen, Imgonna need to call you back,alright?

MORTYS GRANDMA(cut off at end)

How has Jacob been these day--?

Morty hangs up the phone during her sentence and turns backaround, facing Jack. He begins to walk back over to him.

MORTYYoull have to excuse me for that.She can uh, sometimes get a littleintrusive.

He rips the tape off Jacks mouth once again as he finisheshis last sentence.

MORTYNow where were we?

JACK

(after spitting on the ground)Talking about Jacob, I think. Bythe way, how has he been?

Morty quickly punches Jack again.

MORTYGonna be a smart mouth, are we?Well, thats fine.

Morty pulls the knife out of his pocket and opens it.

MORTY

I gave you another chance, Jack. Itold you what Id do. You thinkyoure that important? Youre notthe only one with this information.I dont need you. Youre nothingbut expendable income to me. Solets go ahead and get this overwi--

Mortys phone rings mid-sentence. Morty screams infrustration and drops the knife.

CU (quick shots) He gets more tape off the roll and puts itback on Jacks mouth.

Cut to Morty on the phone / Jack with taped mouth inbackground.

MORTYHello?

CONTINUED: 5.

MORTYS GRANDMAMorty! I think we were disconnectedsomehow. Maybe you hit the offbutton or somethin--

MORTY(frustrated)

No, no, we werent. I cant talkright now, thats what Im tryingto tell you but you keep--

MORTYS GRANDMADont interrupt me, Morty. I knowyour mother taught you better thanthat. Anyway, I need you to dosomething for me.

MORTY(long sigh)

...and whats that?

MORTYS GRANDMAI need you to pick up some eggsfrom the marketplace for me. Immaking spaghetti tonight!

The conversation between Morty and his grandmother becomesmuddled. Cut to Jack sitting in the chair, tied up with tapearound his mouth. He looks down.

POV shot from Jacks view. Morty is arguing on the phone.Then we see the knife from earlier lying on the ground.

Jack looks up at Morty to see that he is occupied arguingwith his grandmother.

He begins to try untying himself from the chair. Afterstruggling, he gets his hands free. He attempts to untie hisfeet from the chair legs, but cant get free.

Still / static shot. While Morty is arguing with hisgrandmother, Jack lifts himself from the chair and scurriesover with his legs still attached to the chair.

MORTY

(arguing)Listen, though, grandma. I canttalk right now, Im working.

Morty suddenly turns around, and Jack stops scurrying, as ifhe was sitting the entire time. Morty turns back around, andJack continues.

I know its a Sunday morning but myhands are kind of tied up here.

Morty turns around again, Jack stops. Morty turns backaround, Jack continues again.

MORTYI know, I know. I get it. Yourspaghetti is legendary, but I wont

be able to make it to dinner today.

Jack picks up the knife and cuts his legs free from thechair. He then sneaks up behind Morty.

MORTYOkay. Honestly? Your spaghettiisnt that good. Okay? Got that?Its overrated.

Jack, knife in hand, suddenly pulls Morty toward him andholds him at knifepoint.

JACKGive me the phone.

Morty attempts to break free from Jacks stronghold, butfails.

JACKI said give me the phone.

Morty gives up and reluctantly hands Jack the phone.

JACK(over the phone)

Good work.

Jack then throws the phone onto the ground.

Morty looks confused.

MORTYGood work? What do you mean good---

Mortys Grandmother walks into frame from the shadows.

Morty looks shocked.

MORTYGr--gran--grandma?

MORTYS GRANDMAThats right, Morty.

MORTYBut-- but how?

MORTYS GRANDMAI spend hours working my hands tothe bone for you to make thatspaghetti. And what do I get?

MORTYIs-- is this serious right now?

MORTYS GRANDMAAbsolutely nothing. Countless hoursin a burning hot kitchen. Weeksupon weeks of planning. Just to betold it isnt good enough.

MORTY(appalled)

I cant believe this.

JACKShut up.

MORTYS GRANDMAAnd now youre going to pay for allthe heartbreak youve caused me.

Jack holds Morty while he squirms and attempts to get away.Mortys Grandma places a bag over his head while he screams.

Cut to black.

A light turns on to a CU of Morty, beaten.

He finds himself tied to a chair, just as Jack was.

A door is heard in the background, shutting.

Jack comes in from the shadows wheeling in a table with asilver platter on top of it.

JACKYou want your money?

Jack lifts the top off the silver platter to reveal hisgrandmothers spaghetti.

JACKDinner is served.

Jack walks out back into the shadows.

Morty stares at the spaghetti without saying a word.
