Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary, Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

FUEL COLLECTION. The annual “Fuel Collection” is now being received. There is an additional envelope in the church packet that requests your generous contribu-tion to defray the costs of the parish buildings. Needless to say, like your own homes, everyone is hit hard during the winter months. We ask every parishioner to be as generous as possible so that our parish buildings may re-main warm and comfortable for everybody. Extra white “Fuel Collection” envelopes are in the church today for those who did not receive it in the mail. Thank you for your help.

DINNER AT SIX FOR SIX. Join our Youth Group in the school auditorium on the Fridays of March (excluding Good Friday) for soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on these Lenten days when we abstain from meat. The price is six dollars. The proceeds from the evenings will help our young people join Pope Francis in Panama for World Youth Day . So join with others before the Friday evening Via Crucis. You can’t forget: Dinner at Six for Six!

The St. Vincent DePaul Clothing Drive will take place at Incarnation next weekend drop your clothes by the 207th Street entrance to the lower church when you come for Mass. Do some early Spring Cleaning and help those in need. Please also share word with friends and neighbors!

“Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

From the Pastor’s Pen

When I was going to confession to my spiritual director before Lent began, I was finished confessing my sins when my spiritual director asked me about a certain sin that I failed to confess; one of my so-called “regulars.” Did I forget to confess it. I did not give it much thought and said matter of factly: “Oh, no. I left that behind.” What I thought was no big deal my confessor began to speak at length about. He said that was the key to Christian living was to leave behind those sinful acts that impede us from Divine favor and union with God. What I thought was not that big a deal, he said, is key for Lent and our striving for Christian holiness. There are certain things that we just need behind. He explained how often times people leave things behind as the age. We all know about downsizing. But what about down sizing in the spiritual realm? Often times we carry certain practices or habits with us that are frankly better left behind us. I see that in my life when I am prompted by other who have a better or more complete view of things. How about you? I know we fast from a plethora of things each Lenten season and rightly so. Maybe this will be the Lent for you and me to simply leave some unwanted things behind. With a little reflection I know we all have certain traits and attributes that we could do without. Maybe 2018 will be the Lent to focus on just one (little) thing that you would do better leaving in Lent. I find it near impossible to fix everything at once so maybe it’s more realistic to focus on just one aspect of your life that you don’t want to bring to the Empty Tomb this Easter. Try it. It might not be that big a deal this year. Speaking of things you could do without. We have our Lenten Clothing Drive next weekend. Please bring your gently used clothes that you would like to donate for the needy to any of the Masses and bring them to the lower church. If you need any assistance please just ask our ready and able sacristans or ushers to help bring them own to the lower church. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be here Tuesday evening for a pick-up. Thanks for your Generosity! Blessed Lent! God Bless!

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD.

Over the next ten months you will be in-vited to pray at home for more priests. We

invite individual parishioners & families to sign up to re-ceive a beautiful Good Shepherd statue into their home for one or two weeks and to pray for priestly vocations. A prayer kit & activity sheets about vocations will be also given to help you through your prayer week. At the end of the week, on Saturdays, we ask you to return the Good Shepherd Statue to the Parish Office so that it may be hand-ed over to another parishioner and/or family on Sunday. You may keep the activity sheets for further prayer and re-flection. Please consider signing up for our Prayer Cam-paign for Priestly Vocations. Simply fill in the form below and return it to the Parish Office or in the collection as soon as possible. Father Chris, Father O’Connor or a member of the Vocations Committee, will contact you soon afterwards about all the details.

Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-tional 12 month periods. The Shepherd Speaks

Every Eucharist that we celebrate with faith makes us grow as a living temple of the Lord, thanks to the communion with His crucified and risen Body. Jesus recognizes what is in each of us, and knows well our most ardent desires: that of being inhabited by Him, only by Him. Let us allow Him to enter into our lives, into our families, into our hearts. May

Mary most holy, the privileged dwelling place of the Son of God, accompany us and sustain us on the Lenten journey, so that we might be able to rediscover the beauty of the encounter with Christ, the only One who frees us and saves us. -Angelus, 8.III.15

You call us to holiness and we trust you to lead us together on our journey to be a renewed Church, for with you all things are possible. Create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son. Liberate us from all that keeps us from you. Heal us from every form of sin and violence. Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Awaken us to the sacred; rebuild trust among us.
