Wednesday, November 2, 2016
Blue Water Café, Vancouver BC
Welcome to the 11h annual Fidelity Investments Peak to Peak Dinner and Auction.
Dear friends of Canadian ski racing:
On behalf of Alpine Canada, I want to thank the B.C.
Alpine community, for your ongoing support and
dedication to our sport.
We are grateful to the parents, volunteers, clubs,
officials and many others who contribute to the
success of Canadian ski racing. Fundraising support for
the national team, facilitated by B.C. Alpine, has been instrumental in
enabling Canada to remain a world-leader in ski racing.
This past season, Alpine Canada athletes secured 43 podium results across
our alpine, para-alpine and ski cross disciplines. Alpine Canada
development Team athletes also proudly represented Canada with podium
success at key World Junior Championships, NorAm races and Youth
Olympic Game events.
Within Canada, and in collaboration with provincial ski association partners,
we are committed to enhancing our domestic athletic and coaching
system, from the grass roots to the national team. Athletic excellence is
directly tied to coaching excellence and we will look to facilitate ongoing
developments in this most important area.
I would like to thank you again for your dedication to Canadian ski racing.
Please accept my very best wishes and much success for the season ahead.
Kind Regards,
MARK RUBINSTEIN

Ashleigh McIvor – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
As the first female Olympic gold medalist in her sport, McIvor has become the
face of women’s ski cross. Her profile extends beyond the sporting world, having
worked with top fashion photographers, strolled down a runway in New York and
starred in major advertising campaigns. McIvor, who grew up in Whistler chasing
boys down the hill on skis and mountain bikes, is a former ski cross world
champion and X Games silver medalist.
Stefanie Fleckenstein – West Vancouver, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
She had a breakout season in 2016 as a member of the BC Ski Team, showing
consistency at the Nor-Am level by finishing 3rd overall in the alpine combined,
5th overall in super-G and 6th overall in slalom. Stefanie also represented
Canada at the World Junior Championships in Sochi. Her strong performances
won her a spot on the Canadian Development team for 2016-2017.
Sam Mulligan – Vancouver, BC (Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club)
Sam is a bit of a speed demon, ranked 5th in downhill and 12th in super-G
internationally for his age. After two years on the BC Ski Team Sam was selected
to the National Development Team. He hopes to qualify for the World Junior
Championships and step onto the podium. As a side note, following his cycling
fitness test in the lab this year they had to hide his results so the Canadian
cycling team didn’t come and scoop him up! He pushed huge watts.
Manual Osborne-Paradis – Vancouver, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
A richly talented speed skier who is famed for his fun-loving, larger-than-life
personality, 'Manny' has three World Cup wins to his name – including his
famous victory in Lake Louise, Alta., in 2009. In 2012-13, Manny narrowly missed a
podium in downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway, and claimed the Canadian downhill title.
Away from the ski hill Osborne-Paradis is known for his community work, which
includes running an annual ski camp for kids with teammate Michael Janyk in
Whistler, B.C. He's also an avid golfer.
Riley Seger – North Vancouver, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
Fresh onto the National Development Team after two seasons with the BC Ski
Team, Riley is looking to make a name on the international stage. Originally from
the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Riley wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a 3rd
place (top U21) finish at the Canadian Championships in downhill. Aspirations
for the upcoming season include top-10 results at World Juniors in Are, Sweden,
and a Nor-Am podium.
Brodie Seger – North Vancouver, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
Brodie Seger, from Vancouver, BC, skied a great 2015-16 season capturing top-
ten finishes on the Nor-Am circuit. Seger captured third place in a giant slalom
Nor-Am race at Whiteface (U.S.A) and had a fourth-place finish in a downhill at
Aspen. On home snow at the Canadian Championships Seger finished second
in the alpine combined and fourth in the downhill. He also notably came eighth
in the giant slalom at the World Junior Championships in Sochi, proving his
medal potential on the World Cup circuit.
Broderick Thompson – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
A gifted speed skier, Thompson is making a name for himself on the alpine
circuit. Originally from the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Thompson had a stand
out season in 2014-15, which included clinching the Nor-Am super-G overall title
and earning his first ever World Cup points; placing 30th in Wengen (SUI) in the
alpine combined discipline. Thompson's name is a strong one in Canadian ski
racing, as Broderick works to establish his career on the alpine World Cup
circuit, and as his sister, Marielle, continues her shining career as a Canadian Ski
Cross star. In the 2015-16 season, Broderick took to the infamous Kitzbuehel track
for the first time and cracked the top 30 in the Wengen alpine combined race.
Georgia Simmerling – West Vancouver, BC (Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club)
Georgia made history at Rio 2016 by becoming the first Canadian athlete to
compete in a different sport at each of three different Olympic Games.
Competing in track cycling’s team pursuit, she helped Canada win Olympic
bronze. A former national team alpine racer who competed in multiple World
Cups and represented Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Simmerling
established herself as a medal contender in ski cross after two standout seasons
on the World Cup circuit. The West Vancouver, BC native racked up
12 top-10 World Cup results from 2012 to 2014, including three
podium finishes, and she finished 13th at the world
championships in Norway.
Marielle Thompson – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
Thompson, one of the most successful ski cross athletes in the world, is the
reigning Olympic Champion and was instrumental in Canada Ski Cross
reclaiming the coveted Nations’ Cup in the 2015-16 season. In 2012 she became
the first Canadian to win an individual ski cross Crystal Globe as the overall
World Cup Champion, a title she successfully reclaimed in 2014 with an exciting
finish at World Cup finals in France. She currently has 13 World Cup victories to
her name and a total of 23 World Cup podiums. The Whistler, BC native –
nicknamed 'Big Air Mar' - finished the 2015-16 season ranked second overall in
the World Cup standings, claiming four World Cup wins, two second-place
finishes and a silver medal at Winter X Games. In March, 2016 she finished her
competitive season winning the title of Canadian Champion for the fourth time.
