Coffee Morning for the work of the Comboni Missionary Sisters in South Sudan working with Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons…. after 9.30am Mass in Parish Hall.

First Reconciliation/ Confession for Holy Cross Primary, on Thursday at 7pm. Please keep these P3 children… and their parents on your prayers. St Andrew’s Primary 3 pupils will celebrate theirs on Tuesday 12th March at 7pm (Lenten Devotions will begin the following week, 19th March, apologies for any inconvenience).

Finance Last weekend’s Second Collection for Re-pointing raised £525. This weekend the Collection will be for Catholic Education. Next weekend the Second Collection will be taken up for Sick & Retired Clergy. We do not forget those who support the parish in non-financial ways: prayers, guarding, odd-jobs etc.

Well done the Anonymous Donors of £20, of £500 (a few weeks ago) and of a cheque for £1,000 for the Re-Pointing. Apart from those who (week in, week out) have supported the Second Collection, we must recall the ones who gave a Special Individual Donation or Legacy & also congratulate the ones who organised certain Fund-Raising Initiatives!

Flowers for the Altar well done the Anonymous Donors of £20 and £60 to purchase flowers. The family of the Late Emma (geboren Kalss) Shiels have donated the flowers in her fond memory at the Sacred Heart Altar, at Our Lady’s Altar and at St Anthony.

Piety Stall new items for First Holy Communion now available. We take this opportunity to congratulate those who ‘staff” the Piety Stall so faithfully.

Ash Wednesday this Wednesday is a day of fasting & abstinence. Ashes will be distributed: 8.15am, 10am & 7pm Mass. The 8.15am Mass will begin on Wednesday and continue during Lent (Monday to Friday): Readings (normally) by Holy Cross Primary Pupils. A Lenten “Count-down Calendar” has been purchased, one per family with this (hard copy) Bulletin.

Way of the Cross A Plenary Indulgence is available to all who devoutly make the Stations of the Cross: here on Fridays after 10am Mass (barring a Funeral). The Sick or Housebound or Prisoners can gain the same Indulgence, if they spend at least one half an hour in pious reading & meditation on the Passion & Death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Normal conditions apply: be free from all attachment from sin; receive the Sacraments of Penance & the Eucharist; pray for intentions of the Pope.

Pioneer Total Abstinence please consider taking the Short Term Pledge for Lent, see porch for details. “I promise, in honour of the Sacred Heart & with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to abstain from all intoxicating drink until Easter Sunday.”

Confirmation for P7 is on Thursday, 21st March. At the end of Mass next weekend (& next) would Parents, Sponsors (if available) & P7 Children wait behind in the Church Building for 20- 30 minutes.

Bishops of Scotland (as requested by Pope Francis) have established A Day of Prayer for those who have suffered abuse- held on the Friday following Ash Wednesday.

The Wee Box The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund begins its Lenten Campaign. Please uplift the materials from the Porch Area.

Fair Trade Night (free admittance) on Monday 4th March at 7.30pm in Parish Hall. Fair Trade goods will be on offer on a sale or return basis from Gavin’s Mill. The film: “Black Gold” will be shown. Parish J & P group will provide Fair Trade tea, coffee and biscuits/cakes etc. Finish at 9.30pm
