LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO
4 5 September 29 & 30, 2018/29 y 30 de septiembre, 2018
Queridos Feligreses,
siempre. El pan que yo daré es mi carne, y lo daré para la vida
del mundo." (6:51)
Su Párroco,
Padre David.
Dear Parishioners,
The practice of bringing Holy Communion to the
sick who are confined to their homes or
healthcare facilities is both a comfort to those
who are ill as well as a reminder of the spirit of
caring and love that we practice toward one another.
“The family and friends of the sick and those who take
care of them in any way have a special share in this minis-
try of comfort. In particular, it is their task to strengthen
the sick with words of faith by praying with them and to
commend them to the suffering and glorified
Lord.” (General Introduction of the Pastoral Care of the
Sick, 34)
At Santa Cruz we are blessed with a vibrant ministry of
bringing the Eucharist to the sick. Please contact the Par-
ish Office (512-312-2520) with requests for visitation so
that we can extend prayers and sacraments to strengthen
and promote healing.
Family members and friends may ask to bring the Eucha-
rist from Mass to the sick. A person may do this once the
Pastor has given permission and the person has received
appropriate formation so that Holy Communion can be
given according to the practice of the Church. We are not
allowed by the Church to place the Eucharist in a pyx
(container) during the time of receiving Holy Communion in
Mass. It can only be given after Mass is completed. Once
Mass is completed, approach the sacristan who will place
the Eucharist in a pyx. The person carrying the Eucharist is
required to go directly from the church to give Holy Com-
munion to the person. The pyx is then purified. This is
done by placing a small amount of clear water into the con-
tainer, drinking it, and wiping the pyx dry.
As we continue to serve one another let us take to heart
these words from the Gospel of John: “I myself am the liv-
ing bread come down from heaven. If anyone eats this
bread he shall live forever; the bread I will give is my flesh,
for the life of the world.” (6:51)
Your Pastor,
Father David.
Dear Parishioners,
The parking lot line striping, red parking zones, handicap signs and other markings will be painted this week. This will allow
clearer visibility for appropriate parking and thru traffic. The project begun, Monday, Sept. 24 and should take five to seven days
to complete. For the duration of this project, areas will be sectioned off and returned for use once the paint is dry. Two parking
spaces will be removed, one at the east side entrance to the church allowing freer walking where the sidewalk begins and sec-
ond, at the entrance to the Religious Education building to allow access to the doorway. Thank you for your generous contribu-
tions so that we may take good care of Santa Cruz.
Your Pastor,
Father David.
Padre David.
