It started with a great Anzac Day fellowship event at Six Keys Restaurant & Bar. Another great event organised by Heather with a terrific roll up of members and partners. As you can see by the photo- graphs on page 3 everybody seemed to have a marvellous time. I understand that this was Heather’s last event as Fellow- ship Director for the year and she has definitely gone out on top. On Monday we our major joint fund raising event shared with the RC of Sandringham. The 31st Mayoral Charity Golf Day at Royal Melbourne Golf Club was played out in perfect weather, with a full compliment of players and a good board of sponsors. I have reproduced our sponsors board on page 3 although I do believe we may have inadvertently carried over a sponsor or two from last year. Also not on the board is Cockatoo Grove olive oil. Ken and Joan Dugan not only played but also donated a number of prizes. While Sandringham were the lead club for this year’s event the number of RCOB members giving a helping hand was very impressive. As I undertook my Jimmy Olsen role I saw many members contributing but I apologise if I missed anybody. There as the sun rose and looking as gorgeous as always were Maureen Flude, Pat Seager and Judy O’Brien carrying out the player registrations. Chris D’Arcy and James Glenwright took the morning shift on ball spotting with Kerrie Geard and Geoff Stockdale taking the afternoon shift. Jim O’Brien, Peter Flude, Tony Phillips and Martin Fothergill were also there help- ing out. Starring on the day in the playing stakes was the shy and re- tiring Mike Hede who won a Magnum of burgundy for closest to the pin. By the evening it had grown to a Jeroboam and was on its way to a Methuselah! I understand that the shot was merely centimetres from the hole and very nearly a “hole- in-one”; lucky really as there would have been about one hun- dred people in the bar and I doubt Barloworld Mercedes are that generous that they were donating a car. You can admire Mike’s golfing style and see the others who helped out in the photographs on page 4. I am sure we hear more from Jim O’Brien this Thursday.
