In Defense of Life

www.masquechuchos.org

MASQUECHUCHOS’ philosophy is based,

above all, on the Defense of the Life of

every animal we are in charge of.

When any of our animals gets sick we never

consider their age or their possibilities to be

adopted* to give them the opportunity to live.

*possibility to be adopted: subjective concept which we considervery unfair ir order to decide who lives and who dies.

We only think about euthanasia when they

are terminally ill and there’s no clinical

chance of keeping their quality of life.

In conclusion, our animals are living beingswith emotions, with their names and each ofthem is irreplaceable.

And our philosophy is treating them in thatway, no like figures or statistics.

The dogs and cats you are going to see noware alive thanks to that.

CANELA, 15 years old.

She suffered a gastric torsion in January 2010.

We were advised to euthanise her, given the cost

of the surgery and her age.

We decided to give her the opportunity to keep on

living.

This is CANELA in March 2012, adopted.

VASCO, 7 years old

He suffered a gastric torsion in January 2009. It

was an emergency so the cost of the surgery was

very high. According to the vet, the possibility of

him surviving was slim. We were advised to

euthanise him.

We decided to give him the opportunity to keep

on living.

This is VASCO

at present

FALO, 14 years old

He suffered a gastric torsion in October 2011.

Euthanasia was advised because of the cost of the

surgery, the little chance of surviving and his age.

We decided to give him the opportunity to keep

on living.

This is FALO back in the shelter, recovered and happy,

enjoying life again.

Unfortunately, there have been more gastric

torsion surgeries over the years.

100% of those who had an emergency operation

in the first hours survived.

In all the cases, euthanasia was advised.

In all the cases, we decided to give the

dogs the opportunity to keep on living...

…Gonso, Zara, etc. All of them are alive and

healthy thanks to our decision.

NINI, 3 years old

December 2011: acute hepatic and renal failure.

Euthanasia is advised because of the cost of the

treatment and the little chance of success.

We decided to give her the opportunity to keep on

living.

This is NINI, totally recovered. We are sure she will sooner or

later find someone to adopt her as she has her whole life ahead.

LUNINA, 12 years old.

She had a tumour in her

ear and

she was

operated

in spite

of her age.

This is LUNINA, without the annoying tumour, back in her kennel.

PEQUERAY, 11 years old

2007: perianal fistula [very painful disorder which

produces some ulcers in the anal area and the

colon].

He was operated

even though he would

need an expensive

treatment for life.

This is PEQUERAY at present. We got a sponsor who pays for his

treatment and he is a well balanced , active, loving and full of life dog.

GORDI

He was found near the shelter, knocked down,

with a pellet in his eye and going into convulsions.

We were advised to euthanise him inmediately.

We decided to give him the opportunity to keep

on living.

This is GORDI in March 2012.

The most affectionate cat in the shelter.

LULA, 5 years old

She was found wandering in the country, totally

undernourished. Later we discovered she had

been lost for more than a year.

To save her, it was neccesary she to be admited in

the clinic for a week.

This is

LULA, two

years later.

She is still

in a foster

home,

waiting for

a definitive

adoption.

GUS

He was found knocked down.

Although his vital organs were not affected, he had

to be operated.

We decided to save his life.

This is GUS at present.

CHAVO

He suffered a paralysis and was admitted

for several days at the clinic.

CHAVO March 2012

PAPIpequeño

He decided to swallow a toy made of rope, almost

as big as him.

We were advised to euthanise him because of his

advanced age.

Again, we decided to give him the opportunity to

keep on living.

This is PAPI having a rest on the sofa, some months after the

incident with the toy.

These are only a few cases of all we have

every year.

Every week we have to go to the vet with

some of our animals, sometimes they are

mild cases, sometimes very serious ones.

Help us to keep our

pro-life philosophy.

Your donation will leave a mark in your

heart forever, knowing that you will have

contributed to save these and many other

innocent animals.

They know they can count on you
