Year-end Round-up | Nov - Dec During the year-end school holidays, APC organised three excursions for our children, namely to Admiralty Park, Jurong SAFRA Kidz Amaze, and “Ralph Breaks The Internet” movie screening. With many slides and attractions to choose from, Admiralty Park provided lots of outdoor fun for the children. The children also had a blast at Jurong SAFRA Kidz Amaze as well as the hilarious movie screening.

On 14 December 2018, APC held our annual Thanksgiving and Awards Presentation Concert. It was a joyful and proud moment to see the children perform the various dances and skits for their parents. Madam Law Li Mei, principal of Fairfield Methodist School (Primary), was Guest-of-Honour at this year’s event during which model students were presented award certificates and Popular Bookstore vouchers for their excellent behaviour. Parents, teachers and children were also treated to a scrumptious buffet dinner after the concert.

To round off the year, APC held a Christmas party for the children. The children were entertained with games, Christmas carols and a movie.

Upcoming EventsAPC looks forward to welcoming our new batch of Primary One children in 2019 and the annual Lo Hei gathering with the AMC staff in February 2019.

Q4 Birthday Celebrations | 21 Nov 18Caleb85 celebrated birthdays for seven of our members on 21 Nov 2018.May the Lord bless them all with excellent health, great joy and many happy returns of all their days.

GYM 18th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner | 09 Nov 18Some of our senior members and a few invited guests attended the Thanksgiving Dinner organised by TRAC Board of Senior Ministry on 9 Nov 2018.

It was a get-together with other TRAC churches’ GYM seniors. Besides great food, we also had a sing-a-long to some ‘evergreen oldies’ and songs of praise to the Lord.

All in all, it was an enjoyable and relaxing night.

Caleb85 First Wednesday Activities | 09 Jan 19Caleb85 Senior Ministry started the New Year 2019 with its First Wednesday Activities on 9 January. With much anticipation of blessings from the Lord, we welcomed two senior gentlemen who were both over 80 years of age. One of them was an AMC member while the other was a pre-believer guest.

Our committee members were thankful for a blessed and wonderful start to the new year. All 13 of us had a fun and meaningful fellowship where we enjoyed ourselves through praise and worship, tea, snacks and rounds of Rummy-O! Praise the Lord!

Romans 15:13 NIV – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

A “Blessed & Fruitful New Year” to all of us at AMC serving our Lord! Amen!

Church Camp Children’s Programme | 7-10 Dec 18Theme: Show Me Your WaysAbout 50 children of ages 6-12 participated in the Church Camp Children’s Programme. David and Cynthia Leong, the Children’s Programme speakers, led the children in five sessions of fun, engaging activities and lessons focused on learning God’s ways. The programme culminated in a Scripture and song presentation at the Finale Night.

The speakers also conducted a parenting workshop that offered parents tips on how to follow up with their children on lessons taught during the Children’s Programme. While the parents were at the workshop, the children were engrossed in watching an incredibly inspiring and heart-warming movie entitled “Wonder”.

Christmas Celebration | 16 Dec 18Theme: Christmas Wish List (Isaiah 9:6-7).

This is our Children’s Ministry kick-start to Kids Celebration of Hope (COH). Children were encouraged to bring a friend to the Celebration. Those who did so received, together with that friend, a specially prepared appreciation cum welcome gift.

Altogether about 112 children, aged 3-12 years, enjoyed a fun-filled and engaging time with Christmas songs, skit, Nativity story and games led by the CM stewards. Through all these, they learned that Jesus is the greatest gift ever given and will be the greatest gift they would ever receive.

The APC teachers led the children in singing praise songs while Wai Mey shared on the topic New Year Resolutions. The children learned that Jesus is the most important promise and He can change them.

Start of CM Sunday Sessions | 13 Jan 19At the first session of the 2019 CM Sunday Sessions, children and CM stewards had a great time getting to know each other and setting class boundaries.

The primary level children were introduced to Kids COH where they were briefed and encouraged to participate in the ONE Initiative – Befriend one, Beseech for one, Bless one, Bring one.

Chinese ministryChinese Ministry Alpha Course | 29 Sep – 24 Nov 18The Alpha Course has commenced once again in the Chinese Ministry after a 10-year hiatus. Between 29 Sep and 24 Nov, 20 to 35 adults attended the eight sessions which included ice-breakers, video screenings and group sharing. We would like to thank Ps David and Pr Wendy for helping us with the Holy Spirit Weekend programme held at the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge on 5-6 Nov. Although the preparations were tiring, we journeyed on alongside the pastoral staff and volunteers who served with joy.

Chinese Ministry Caroling | 23 Dec 18Twenty-five people, between the ages of 6 and 70 plus, set out together in two groups to bring cheers and the good news to seven families. Instead of just singing popular Christmas carols, we sought to bring the real meaning of Christmas to them with readings, reciting, and singing of Christian carols, accompanied by a primary school boy on the ukulele.

13

The families we visited had never experienced caroling. They were blessed and expressed interest for us to come again next year. The two groups gathered at the last station and gave our preacher and Chinese Ministry chairman a surprise birthday celebration.

It was a long day as the carolers started the day at 9 in morning with Sunday Service and only retired for the night after 10. Indeed, I was truly amazed at their dedication and love for God.

We would like to thank one of our Chinese committee members for graciously opening his house to host us and preparing a sumptuous supper for us with the help of some sisters-in-Christ. We are also grateful to the family that hosted us during the day by preparing snacks and drinks which gave us the energy to carry on. Last but not least, a big “Thank You” also to the pair of English-speaking siblings who put in so much effort in trying to recite some paragraphs in Mandarin.

Well done everyone! To God be the glory!

Service of Baptism & Membership | 15 Dec 18AMC baptised 12 persons on 15 Dec, received 12 persons into English membership on 16 Dec, and another 4 persons into Chinese membership on 30 Dec. Our English member, Mrs Amanda Kuang, shared her story:

“Our family visited AMC in January 2018. We found AMC friendly and family-like. We decided to sign up for membership classes to be connected to the body of Christ through community. Classes were fun and interesting. The facilitators covered different topics on what it means to follow Jesus and to be a Methodist. Our classmates also created a safe environment to laugh and learn together.

I went through a period of trials and tribulation in 2018 where I felt alone and scared. When I cried out to God, He raised different persons in AMC to journey with me. It’s a miracle to be received into membership. I’ve arrived at a place of deep assurance that I belong to Jesus and a spiritual family. What a great difference to know I’m no longer a visitor.”

WSCSHawkers Fare | 04 Nov 18The Hawkers Fare held on 4th Nov 2018 again brought much joy and fellowship to AMC as the seniors served side by side tirelessly with the juniors.

Cell Group members joined forces to contribute home cooked food like Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam, Fried Bee Hoon, Spaghetti and even Vietnamese coffee! This event also provided the opportunity for parents and kids who put their hands together to come up with beautifully crafted Christmas cards and gifts.

Annual Thanksgiving Lunch for Foreign Domestic Helpers | 25 November 18 The annual thanksgiving lunch for members’ foreign domestic helpers was held on Sunday, 25 November 2018 after their English lessons in church. AMC-WSCS Prison Fellowship Services | 17 Dec 18On 17 December, we had a Christmas celebration with 49 clients and 16 of our ladies who participated in the carol singing cum worship service. Cindy Ling and Debbie Lam from the Young Adult Ministry led us in joyful worship and Josephine Li, a lecturer from East Asia School of Theology shared with us ‘The Christmas Makeover’. Her testimony encouraged many who attended to be assured of God’s love for us and His power to change our lives. Regardless of how unworthy we feel, we are so precious to God that He gave His Son Jesus to us on Christmas. There was also food and fun as the WSCS ladies prepared a spread of sumptuous food, beautifully wrapped gift hampers and prizes.

We thank God for Angelic who led a lady, who has been a recipient of our outreach efforts, to Christ that evening. We will continue to pray for her spiritual growth and physical healing.

YUM CHA MINISTRYThe Yum Cha Ministry which often screens video testimonies of one’s faith as well as other meaningful stories of spiritual growth has been a source of encouragement and delight to those who have been coming regularly.

There was also a session on Praise Dance, a form of exercise as well as a form of Praise to our Lord at the same time. These ladies’ graceful Praise Dance on 24 Nov 2018 marked the end of this session as new programmes have been lined up for the new year!

Having performed this dance for the year in 2018, the ladies are now able to do this themselves at their own time in the comfort and convenience of their homes. Thanks to Susie Loh, Susan Ng and Serena Tan who have been faithfully following them through the sessions.

Celebration of HopeCelebration of Hope (COH) 2019COH is a nationwide evangelism initiative where Churches and Christians are rallied to pray and reach out to their un-churched friends and relatives. AMC commits to this journey of evangelism as part of our 40th anniversary celebration. Here are some PEGS practices that all of us can actively adopt:

Pray for five un-saved friends or relatives regularly.Engage by inviting them to a Alpha Everywhere group from March to May. Gather them to the National Stadium for an evangelistic meeting on 17-19 May. Sign up to host, befriend, help or facilitate a small group to discuss topics of faith (see diagram below).

Together, let’s each one reach one. Together, let’s bring the hope of Jesus to others.

Pray for COHOver 40 persons attended our first prayer gathering of 2019.
