Implicit Spatial Training

Baseball Pitching Series (BBP-Series)

V-Flex engages the brain through implicit spatial training. The BBP-Series of products are used to implicitly condition the pitcher to become more efficient at processing strike zone information. They are specifically designed to generate neuro- electrical focus through the use of a patented prompting system. This is the first of its kind constraint led approach that is based on implicit neurological principles.

Throwing More Strikes

If you want pitchers to throw more strikes, create an environment that allows the brain to teach itself from the spatial and implicit information you provide. A V-Flex generated strike zone isn’t a solid external form target like other baseball pitching targets. Our targets create an efficient path of discovery that helps the pitcher’s brain process visual info more efficiently. The V-Flex line of products produce absolute depth values for the brain so it no longer has to guess, imagine or mentally visualize the strike zone. By recruiting the maximum amount of spatial neurons available within a particular space we can alter the brain’s interpretation of that space and affect basic locomotion.

What is the main objective of implicit training? It is to prompt the pitcher’s brain to adapt to a new visual environment within its receptive field of view. Preferable with a minimimal amount of “coaching / verbal cues”.

What is an virtual or emergent target? It’s a specific “target location” that materalizes inside the pitcher’s brain without appearing on the retina of the eye. It

is not a solid form target, it’s a neurological one. The rectangular shape that the pitcher is seeing while using V-Flex exist in a virtual “electrical”

state inside the pitchers brain and is uniquely, solely his. Build the rectangular strike

zone by placeing the 11” white pitching sticks in each corner and the 14” sticks on the sides. This configuration prompts the brain to “make” the targeted space.

Basic Instructions: One of the main objectives in implicit training is to allow the pitcher to self-teach. They are to call their own pitches and pitch locations. We have downloadable charts on line for charting efficiencies.

Pitchers shouldn’t throw more than three strikes in a row during V-Flex training. This activates the dopaminergic reward system during implicit training.

Do not use external constraints (rubber band or core belts) while using V-Flex.

Use a solid background behind the BBP-3.0 to aid pitcher’s brain in materializing the strike zone.

Throw a variety of pitch types during training sets.

Utilize the entire space inside the inner circle area.

Variations By altering the number of pieces that create the emergent visual path to home plate (BBP-5, BBP-7) you can increase or

decrease the level of difficulty of the training experience. With every piece that is removed from the visual path within the pitchers receptive field grows larger and larger resulting in a different interpretation of that space. It’s the same exact distance from the mound to home plate but the brain doesn’t think so because the implicit clues are changing.

It is also possible to create unique curved spaces for pitchers that are throwing curve balls. By moving the center piece of the PXB-Series approximately 8” off center a distinct curved tunnel will appear. It is simple and easy to do.

Throwing to a Catcher

During normal bullpen sessions we recommend using The BBP-5 and BBP-7 to neurologically enhance the “space” surrounding the catcher. The depth clue spaces are non-verbal by design and originate inside the pitcher’s brain to provide it a continual flow of emerging information to enrich the bullpen experience for the pitcher.

Due to the size of the BBP-3.0 we do not recommend throwing to a catcher through it. Only use the two larger pieces for catcher related activities. *Recommended use of this system is 2 days per week.

Thank you for choosing V-Flex…
