- -5T—A reasonable expenditure for rest and recreation is a good investment.
Are you always able to take just the kind erf vacation you like to take?
If a REAL VACATION seems nut of reach, try this:— Divide the estimated expense by 50, and every week deposit MOth of your vacation fund in a Holiday Savings Account.
The elimination o f a few daily extravagances will doubtless enable you to spare that much each week without any trouble
Then next year, you and your family can enjoy a RJ2AL VACATION.

Sale £1.00 After declaring that the writ of attachment which had boen Issued a- gainst Senator Ralph Chandless was faulty and that it had also, been issued prematurely by Judge Chas. W. Parker, Vic* Chancellor John J. Pallon, sitting in Chamben at J er. *ey City on Monday vaeated the iume, despite the protests ot Supreme g»uk Commissioner Harold V. PrlceT before whom Senator Chandless had refused to produce papers relative to his personal affairs , as well ss his personal bank records during the hearings of the Lodi Township sewer probe.
Vice Chancellor Fallon held that the warrant failed to specify the chargee against the Senator. He declared that the same should have contained full and complete information so that he might be prepared to meet the allegations in court.
Vice Chancellor Fallen likewise refused to allow Mr. Price te substitute another warrant in the ground that the second warrant was no more specific than the first one. “Such a proceeding would be Improper and illegal,” he added.
In reviewing the facta, the Vice Chancellor stated the warrant had been served upon Senator Chandless while the latter VM conferring with his counsel during a recess of the court, and while they won considering what action they wen to take in the matter of replying to the disputed perateal question*. “That was premature,M ha added.' Vice Chancellor Fallon ordered the filing of a certificate from Judge Parker presented by Price snd which purported to aet forth the fast* as they presented themselves in the court when the writ of habeas corpus was issued. Attorney Harry Weinberger, for Senator Chandless, objected to the same on the grounds that it was baaed on hearsay, and j that the statutes did not contemplate ex-part* . messages* from one court to snotter. “I am frank to «ay, said MrFfcllon, “that 1 do not know the significance sf this memorandum.” .
-Chandless must he discharged from custody.1* he continued: “fm*1 believe Is the only course te pursue, so that the question of the constitutionality of tne statute involved and the course af procedure may he brought squarely W ore the Su-Dram# C,mrt M

ARE THE DRYS RETREATING?
When Congressman Franklin W. Fort made his gallant but unsuccessful-light for the New Jersey senatorial nomination, he campaigned upon a platform that seemed radically strange to those wf)o have been Opposed to the eighteenth amendment.' Mr. Fort made the surprising declaration that it was pot unlawful to manufacture "home brew” in the home for hoijje consumption, in other words, the dry candidate campaigned upon a platform of f f i -aonal rights. ‘
And now comes the national dry organisation virtually adopting Mr. Fort's ideas. Signed and sealed hy nationally known advocates-of continued prohibition, they repudiate “all enforcement of prohibition "does not involve the invasion of personal right"! And they go further, they teil us that the enforraecent 'of prohibition "does not involve the invasion of homes and the enforcement of personal rights." „
Thus, the question of prohibition has resolltd itself into a new argument on the part of the days. They efflk.much about the ‘-tlramc" in liquors, but very very little about drinking. As thingi.nOW stand, _ we are forced to admit that we are at sea as to'the real motive behind the dry movement.
Prior to Mr. Morrow’s nomination, there was little activity in the prohibition office of New Jersey. As a matter of record, njr national enforcement agency in Newark did little more than seep'the offices open in Newark. Now, Mr. MaePhee comes iere&nd inaugurates a series of spectacular raids. Why? Why s enforcement being so determinedly pushed at the present time?
'The. dr f* don't know, the Wets know less and the public txiksVon and wonders. “Personal habits and conduct of'home ife jtjin the field of private morals. These should not be touched iy the hand of the law unless they cross their boundary;''. We •jutifctjf course'from the national dry convention and their new ilatform.
it seems to us that the dry forces are retreating. The very oundaticm upon which prohibition was built has gone down with i terrific crash The drys now admit openly that the drinking of alcohol is m* demoralising. They concede that alcohol is not responsible for idiocy, degeneration and pauperism.
Now, in the face of Mr. Morrow’s 304,000 majority, the drys are retreating to a previously prepared position, a stand made possible by the intentional omission from the' Eighteenth Amendment of the word "USE".

The recent completion of the United States census shows that nany counties in the State have gained enormously in nop* j Nation Bergen, in panicular, leads them all with a gam of 75 ijpirr cent, 'ftii* means that when the 1931 Legislature meet*; that a new apportionment of Assemblymen must, of necessity (take place.
]* Under the Constitution of our State, the Assembly must j Consist of sixty members. The problem lies in what to do. 'Each county is entitled to at least one member in the lower |ht*ise and that means that the lawmakers hive got to do some !arithmetical calculating in order to apportion the state cuuita-IFPresent indication* seem to pomt to the fact that Bergen |Giunty will get one new member, while Hudson will k«e two j stats. Passaic and Atlantic may alao expect to get another! •Assemblyman while the smaller counties will remain as they are.
The absurdity of the constitutional law which limits the Assembly is thus apparent. Forgetting partisan politics, we must admit that the large county ai Hudson is entitled to mot%, jitpreaentatKin and not less. The same holds true in Bergen ! where a population of almost 400,000 will he represented by wnly four members in the legislature.
Much criticism has heretofore been voiced ai thr manner m electing our Assembly- It has been pointed out that the Assembly should be elected by districts and n « at large, a* the cystom now prevails. Those who favor the district appurtnev Stent say that it would make each assemblyman responsible to P** constmuents and that k would make the Assembly more ■•dependent.
h seems that the arguaacnt is a food one and « » hoped that the W 1 Legislature wiD take steps to remedy the exist mg evfl and the inequality of AnseanMy reprewnutum
