Christian Day at the Ballpark

This year we are organizing a group to attend Christian Day at Busch

Stadium. On Sunday, July 30, Christian Day will begin with the Arizona

Diamondbacks vs. the Cardinals starting at 1:15 pm. After the game will

be a program featuring current Cardinals players and the keynote

speaker, Lance Berkman. Loge seat tickets are $18.00 per person.

However, if we are able to organize a group of 20 or more people, we

will receive an additional discount. If you are interested in attending,

please see Pastor Sean.

District President's Visit

Due to a scheduling conflict, Pastor Scharr will be unable to visit with

the congregation on July 9. His visit to St. Paul's has been rescheduled

for July 23. Those who have questions about St. Mark's are encouraged

to attend.

celebration of the recent marriage of Rev. Sean & Heather Smith. The

open house reception is on Saturday, July 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at

Wednesday Evening Bible Class Bible Class Will resume Wednesday July 12 at 7pm in the St. Paul Parish

Hall. When we resume we will be going through the Augsburg

Confession. Both Immanuel and St. Paul’s congregation constitutions

state that qualifications for congregational membership are “to be

familiar at least with Luther’s Small Catechism and the Unaltered

Augsburg Confession and declare his acceptance thereof.” Yet many

Lutherans have unfortunately never even heard of the Augsburg

Confession. The Augsburg Confession is the most comprehensive

teaching of what Lutheran’s believe, teach, and confess on the basis of

Scripture. In other words when asked, “What do Lutheran Christians

believe?” We can most easily answer, “What we say here in the

Augsburg Confession.” Thus a study of our Augsburg Confession is also

be a study of the most important teachings of the Bible. So join us for

the study of our Christian faith, and this document that your

membership says you are to be familiar with! Beginning Wednesday,

July 12 @ 7pm.

St. Paul’s Benevolence Fund

Acts 2:44–45, “And all who believed were together and had all things in

common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and

distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.” Since the beginning

the Church has cared for her own, as a family. If there are those among

us who are in need, the Church family makes sure they are the first to

attend to that need. As such St. Paul’s has a benevolence fund available

to help with special times of need. The needs may be varied for

anything for you or your family that is needed “to support this body and

life.” If you are in need of financial help please do not be afraid to talk to

Pastor Sean. Everything shared with him is confidential and he would

like to pray with you in your time of need, as well as provide help from

your Church family as we are able.

The Lord’s Supper accomplishes something.

We believe Jesus is present because He promises to be. And when God

is present, things happen. Either life or death, either blessing or curse,

but be assured of this: something occurs when God is present. Jesus

comes to us in His body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins to all

who trust in His Word. All who receive the Sacrament receive Christ’s

body and blood. Those who receive it in faith receive the benefits given

in Christ’s promise. Those who do not believe receive judgment.

Lutheran on the Gospel Readings

“Who is there who does not know how intense a father’s affection

toward his children and wife is? It is easier for a parent to suffer death

than to forsake his own or to permit great harm to be done to them. But

everything must yield to a command of God; and if you want to be a

Christian, this is not a matter of wearing a black or gray garment. No,

everything must be risked, not only wife and children but your own

life.” LW 4:41
