ILAN GOLDFAJN GOVERNOR OF BANCO CENTRAL DO BRASIL Ilan Goldfajn has been the Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil since mid-June 2016. He is also a member of the BIS Board of Directors. He was Deputy Governor for Economic Policy at theCentral Bank from September 2000 to July 2003. Mr. Goldfajn holds a PhD degree in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in economics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He held academic positions as a professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC) do Rio de Janeiro and at Brandeis University, and was a director of the think tanks IEPE, Casa das Garças and Brazil’s Center for Public Policy Debate (CDPP). Governor Goldfajn was Chief Economist at Itaú Unibanco from April 2009 to May 2016. He was partner at Gavea Investimentos and founding partner at Ciano Investimentos. Earlier in his career, Mr. Goldfajn worked as an economist at International Monetary Fund and as a consultant at other international organizations such as the World Bank and United Nations.
