Surviving are his widow, Mrs.Pearl Elizabeth Pearson of thehome; one daughter, Mrs. BobbyPhilyaw of Huntsville, Ala.; oneson, Mark Pearson of the U. S.Marine Corps; two sisters, Mrs.Lee Taylor "and Mrs. D. L. War-ren, both of Asheville, and threegrandchildren.The :(uneral was conducted at 10

We shall always remember with thanksgiving Mr. Pearson as a man ofCod, devoted to his calling as a minister of the Cospel, who exhibited his lovefor Jesus Christ through his life and through his loyalty to the Creat Com-mission of our Lord to go into all the world and preach the gospel and tomake disciples of all nations. We thank Cod for loaning Brother Earl tous for a short time here in this corner of the Lord's vineyard. JOHN EARL PEARSON

The family of J. Earl Pearson, 53, who died July 18, has requested that

memorial gifts be made to Home Missions through the Clement Baptist Church,

Route 1, Box 100, Autryville, N. C. 28318.

The Clement pastor died four weeks after undergoing heart surgery at Duke

Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Price Pearson; two daughters,

Mrs. Wayne D. Keller of Lenoir and Mrs. Bob K. Philyaw of Huntsville, Ala.; a

son, Mark Warren Pearson of Autryville, two sisters, Mrs. Lee Taylor and Mrs.

D. L. Warren of Asheville, three grandchildren.

He served as pastor of the Clement Church for five years and was a former

missionary of the Brushy Mountain and Catawba River Associations. He had

served as pastor of Kings Creek in Caldwell County and of Dobson Church in

Surry County.

After an earlier service on July 21 at the Clement Church, Mr. Pearson

was buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Lenoir," with Missionary Bill Goble of

the Catawba River Association conducting the services.

Annual Session, October 20, 1971 at the Faymont Baptist Church, are respectfullydedicated in memory of the Rev. James Earl Pearson who for the past five yearsserved as pastor of the Clement Baptist Church, Autryville Baptist Church, Autry-ville, N.C•

During the time of his pastorate at Clement, he finished his college work atCampbell College graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In the spring of 1971he graduated from Southeastern Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree .

In addition to the pastorate at Clement, Rev. Pearson has served 13 years asAssociatlonal Missionary in the Catawba River Baptist Association and the BushyMruntain Baptist Association. Other pastorates in North Carolina include KingsCreek, Dobson and Bat Cave. Maryland pastorates include Patterson Park, Colgateand Woolford Memorial.
