INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED FORENSIC INVESTIGATION PROFESSIONALS USA, INC. (IICFIP)

Academic AffiliationsThe IICFIP has a policy to proactively engage colleges and universities in educational partnerships so that they can run forensic investigation programmes which are designed or approved by it in pursuit of its mission to promote excellence in forensic investigation. The partner universities are given support in terms of forensically trained lecturers, training materials etc. The students graduating from such programme (s) joins the IICFIP and then receive CFIP professional designation straightaway in addition to college degrees. The partner university (ies) that already have forensic science or cyber security and digital forensics programmes are assisted in improving and enriching them in line with the IICFIP’s professional standards so that the graduates are admitted as professional members immediately they graduate. The Institute mostly recognize relevant or approved masters degrees as equivalent to the CFIP.The following are the universities that have already entered into collaborative arrangements with the IICFIP:

1. The University of Lagos – NigeriaThey are offering Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Investigation. They already have 45 students. The course is being conducted by Lecturers and professors who are members and fellows of the Institute.

2. Agenla Academy/ University of YaoundéII – CameroonThey are offering a master’s of science course in Forensic Accounting and Criminal investigation. The curriculum was designed by the IICFIP’s Faculty members who are also lecturers and professors at the University of Lagos. This program has 98 students from Cameroon, Nigeria, Lesotho, South Sudan and Kenya.Any university that partners with us can run this programme with the IICFIP’s Faculty support.Negotiations are in the process to partner with universities in Kenya, USA, Botswana, Ghana and Switzerland just but to mention a few. The reason for academic affiliations is to produce professionals that are also academically proficient.

IICFIP FacultyThe Institute has put together an elite faculty consisting of Forensic Accounting experts, Professors of Cyber Criminology and digital forensics, forensic investigation practitioners. The average experience of the faculty is 8 years in teaching / forensic training/ forensic investigation. Global BoardThere is also a Global Board. The Global Chair of the IICFIP is Prof. Rama Subramaniam from UAE and the Continental Director for Africa is FCFIP Linus Enobi Akepe of Cameroon.

Success or Failure of InvestigationsInvestigations succeed or fail depending on the quality of the investigative team. The fallacy is that lawyers or accountants are best suited for investigation assignments. An effective forensic investigator or auditor must have adequate mix of skills as portrayed by the course requirements of a CFIP. One must understand law as applies to investigations, accounting, digital forensics, criminal investigation procedures, auditing, have good understanding of fraud and corruption typologies and causation theories, understand criminology and psychology and investigative accounting added to natural talents. Lack of all round trained investigators is the cause of cases being thrown

out of courts for inadequacy of evidence and other technical reasons.

Our members in various parts of the globe are well equipped to carry out effective forensic investigations in business organizations, governments and other situations requiring forensic investigation skills. The Institute caters for the networking of all investigation professionals.

The Business of the IICFIPIICFIP is not just in the business of fraud examination but forensic investigation in the widest sense. We train professionals to become all rounded experts in forensic investigation such that they are able to carry out fraud examination, forensic accounting, medical investigations, financial investigations, digital forensics, criminal investigations and do fraud/corruption control.
