The annual open enrollment period is starting soon. You’ll need your passwordto access your personalized benefits information and, if necessary, enroll. If youmisplaced your password or can’t remember it, request a new one now — especiallysince it may take up to 10 days to receive your new password in the mail.Here’s how:

CALL THE ALCATEL-LUCENT BENEFITS CENTER AT 1-888-232-4111(If you do not have Internet access)

Follow the prompts to enter your Social Security Number.

Press “99” followed by the “#” key.

At the next menu, press “2.”

Then, press “1.”

Hang up — your request is complete and your password will bemailed to you.

Hint: If you have Internet access but never added your preferrede-mail address to the Your Benefits Resources Web site,log on as soon as you receive your new password. Then,add and choose your preferred e-mail address by clicking“Your Profile” from the left-side toolbar, and “ChangePreferences” under the “General” tab.

If you ever forget or misplace your password again, you canrequest that a temporary password be instantly sent to yourpreferred e-mail address!

Step twoSave the dates.

The annual open enrollment period for your Alcatel-Lucent healthand welfare benefits coverage starts Monday, November 9, 2009, at8:00 a.m., Eastern Time (ET), and ends Friday, November 20, 2009, at6:00 p.m., ET.

A bright yellow envelope containing your enrollment materialsshould arrive to you in early November. These materials will includepersonalized and non-personalized information about your 2010benefits and how to enroll.

Please note: If you want to see non-personalized enrollment information(such as the Benefits 2010: Information and Action Guide) before youreceive it in the mail, log on to the BenefitAnswers Plus Web site atwww.benefitanswersplus.com, starting the week of October 19, 2009.(See “Step 3” for details about how to log on to BenefitAnswers Plus.)

Personalized information, such as 2010 plan options and pricing, willnot be posted on BenefitAnswers Plus. However, you can view yourpersonalized information on the Your Benefits Resources Web site, orby calling the Alcatel-Lucent Benefits Center, beginning on the first dayof the annual open enrollment period.

Medicare-eligible? MORE TO COME…

2Since Benefits Center representatives will not have information about your 2010benefits until Monday, November 9, 2009, please do not call the Alcatel-Lucent BenefitsCenter with questions about your 2010 plan options or pricing prior to that date.

REMEMBER — LATE ENROLLMENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWEDYour enrollment deadline will not be extended for any reason. Make sure to take actionbefore 6:00 p.m., ET, on the last day of the annual open enrollment period!

SecureHorizons® MedicareDirect™ Retiree Plan (PFFS), a Private Fee-For-Service plan, will again be offered through Alcatel-Lucent as amedical plan option for 2010.

If you are currently enrolled, or will become Medicare-eligible byJanuary 2010, SecureHorizons MedicareDirect Retiree Plan (PFFS) willmail additional information about this coverage to you in late October.

If you opted out of the SecureHorizons MedicareDirect Retiree Plan(PFFS) when first eligible but want to consider this coverage for 2010,look for details in the mail on how to request a SecureHorizonsMedicareDirect Retiree Plan (PFFS) information package prior to thestart of the annual open enrollment period.
