protect your feet and improve your footing onslippery surfaces.

• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts ofbody away from openings and moving parts.

• Turn off all controls before removing battery.

• Do not operate string trimmer in explosiveatmospheres, such as in the presence offlammable liquids, gases, or dust. String trimmercreate sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

• Keep your work area clean and well lit. Clutteredbenches and dark areas invite accidents.

Keep bystanders, children, and visitors at least50 ft. away while operating a string trimmer.Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and usecommon sense when operating a string trimmer. Donot use string trimmer, while tired, upset, or underthe influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. Amoment of inattention while operating string trimmermay result in serious personal injury.

• Store idle appliances - When not in use, stringtrimmer should be stored indoors in a dry, lockedplace out of the reach of children.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing orjewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves awayfrom moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or longhair can be caught in moving parts.

• Secure long hair above shoulder level to prevententanglement in moving parts.

• Avoid accidental starting.

• Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection

that complies with ANSI Z87.1.

• Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, or hearingprotection must be used for appropriate conditions.

• Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain longhair. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can bedrawn into air vents.

• Do not use on a ladder, rooftop, tree, or otherunstable support. Stable footing on a solid surfaceenables better control of the string trimmer inunexpected situations.

• Do not use string trimmer if switch does not turn iton or off. A string trimmer that cannot be controlledwith the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk ofstarting the string trimmer accidentally.

EXTENSION CORDS

When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power source, be sure to use an extension cord that hasthe capacity to handle the current the product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resultingin overheating and loss of power. Use the chart to determine the minimum wire size required in an extension cord.Only round jacketed cords listed by Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) should be used.

When working outdoors with a product, use an extension cord that is designed for outside use.This type of cord is designated with "W-A" or "W" on the cord's jacket. Before using any extensioncord, inspect it for loose or exposed wires and cut or worn insulation.

This product requires assembly.

• Carefully remove the product and any accessoriesfrom the box. Make sure that all items listed in the

ATFACHINGTHESTRAIGHT SHAFT

ATTACHMENT (See Figure 2, page ii.)

• Unplug the power head.

• Loosen the knob on the coupler and remove thehanger cap from the attachment.

• Push in the button located on the attachment

shaft, Align the button with the guide recess onthe power head coupler and slide the two shaftstogether. Rotate the attachment shaft until thebutton locks into the positioning hole.

NOTE: If the button does not release completelyin the positioning hole, the shafts are not lockedinto place. Slightly rotate from side to side until thebutton is locked into place.

• Tighten the knob securely.

,_, WARNING: Be certain the knob is fully

tightened before operating equipment; checkit periodically for tightness during use to avoidserious personal injury.

AnACHING THE FRONT HANDLE

(See Figure 3, page ii.)

• Unplug the power head.

• Press the front handle onto the power head shaftso that the handle is angled toward the rear handle.

• Place the front handle along the power head shaftto a position that allows for comfortable operation.

• Slide the bolt through the holes in the front handle.

• Slide the washer onto the bolt.

• Place the wing nut onto the bolt and tighten thewing nut securely.

A'R-ACHING THE GRASS DEFLECTOR(See Figure4, page ii.)

NOTE: Install the grass deflector before theattachment is connected to the power head.

• Remove the wing screw from the grass deflector.

• Insert the tab on the mounting bracket in the sloton the grass deflector.

• Align the screw hole in the mounting bracket withthe screw hole in the grass deflector.

• Insert the wing screw through the mountingbracket and into the grass deflector.

• Tighten the screw securely.

CONNECTING TO POWER SUPPLY(See Figure 5,page ii.

The power head is designed with a cord retainer thatprevents the extension cord from being pulled loosewhile using.

• Form a loop with the end of the extension cord.

• Insert loop portion of extension cord through peningin the bottom of the rear handle and place over cordretainer.

• Slowly pull loop against cord retainer until the slackis removed.

• Plug power head into extension cord.

NOTE:Failuretoremoveallexcesscordslackfromextensioncordretainercouldresultinpluglooseningfromreceptacle.LOCK-OUTBU'l-rON(SeeFigure 6, page ii.)

The lock-out button reduces the possibility ofaccidental starting. The lock-out button is locatedon the handle above the switch trigger. The lock-out button must be depressed before you pull theswitch trigger. The lock resets each time the triggeris released.

,_I, WARNING: Extreme care must be taken

when using a blade attachment to ensure safeoperation. Read the safety information for safeoperation when using a blade attachment andrefer to the safety rules and instructions inyour attachment manual. Never use a brushcutter attachment with this electric power head.Improper operation of a blade or any attachmentcould result in serious injury.

CUTTING TIPS(See Figure 8. page iii.)

STARTING AND STOPPING THE TRIMMER(SeeFigure 6, page ii.)

• To start the power head: Depress the lock-outbutton and squeeze the switch trigger.

• To stop the power head: Release the switchtrigger.

OPERATING THE TRIMMER((See Figure 7, page iii.)

_L WARNING: Motor housing may become

hot during operation. Do not rest or place yourarm, hand, or any body part against the motorhousing during operation. Only hold the unitduring trimmer operation with all body parts clearof motor housing (or as shown in the applicableattachment Operator's Manual). Extendedcontact with the motor housing may result inburns or other injuries.

,_, WARNING: Always position the unit on the

operator's right side. The use of the unit on theoperator's left side will expose the user to hotsurfaces and can result in possible burn injury.

,_ WARNING: To avoid burns from hot

surfaces, never operate unit with the bottom ofthe motor above waist level.

• Avoid hot surfaces by always keeping the tool

away from your body.

• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area being cut;

this is the best cutting angle.

• The trimmer cuts best when passing the unit

from right to left. This will avoid throwing debris atthe operator. Avoid cutting in the hazardous areashown. Cutting in the hazardous area can result in

debris flying directly at the operator.

•Use the tip of string to do the cutting; do not force

string head into uncut grass.

• Wire and picket fences cause extra string wearand breakage. Stone and brick walls, curbs, and

wood may wear string rapidly.

• Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood

moldings, siding, and fence posts can easily bedamaged by the string.

,_, WARNING: When servicing, use only

identical replacement parts. Use of any otherparts may create a hazard or cause productdamage.

Hold the power head with your right hand on therear handle and your left hand on the front handle.Keep a firm grip with both hands while in operation.Power head should be held at a comfortable

position with the rear handle about hip height.

Always operate power head at full throttle. Ifdebris becomes wrapped around the attachment,RELEASE THE SWITCH TRIGGER, unplug theunit, and remove the debris.

A WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or

safety glasses with side shields that comply withANSI Z87.1 during power tool operation or whenblowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear adust mask.

,_ WARNING: Always hold the power head

away from the body keeping clearance betweenthe body and the product. Any contact with theattachment cutting head can result in burns and/or other serious personal injury.

INSTALLINGPRE-WOUND SPOOL IN STRINGHEAD(See Figure 9. page iii.)

Use only pre-wound spool with .080 inch (2.0mm)diameter monofilament line.

• Unplug the power head from the power supply.Hold the string head and unscrew the spool cap.

• To remove the spool cap, turn it clockwise.

• Remove and do not discard the spring from theempty spool. Insert the spring into the new spool.

• To install the new spool, make sure the two linesare captured in the slots opposite each other onthe new spool. Make sure the ends of each lineare extended approximately 6 in. (152mm) beyondeach slot.

• Thread the lines into the eyelets in the stringhead. Carefully push the spool into the string head(gently pull the lines to the outside if necessary).When the spool is positioned in the string head,grasp the lines and pull sharply to release themfrom the slots in the spool.

• Push down and turn the spool counterclockwiseuntil it no longer turns. Hold tile spool down androtate clockwise a small amount. Release the spool.The spool should be locked down in the stringhead. If not, hold down and rotate until locked.

• Make sure the string head and the spool areinstalled on the drive shaft.

• To install the spool cap, turn the spool capcounterclockwise.

• Pull the lines again to rotate the spool into cuttingposition. Push the spool cap down while pulling onthe line ends to manually advance the lines and tocheck for proper assembly of the string head.

WINDING LINE ONTO EMPTY SPOOL

Use only .080in (2.0ram) diameter monofilamentline.

• To remove the spool cap, turn it clockwise.

• Remove and do not discard the spring from theempty spool.

• Remove any excess line from the spool. Inserttip of new line into spool. Wind the line around thespool one section at a time(see Figure 11, page iii).Once one section is complete, lock the line into theslot and repeat for the second section.

• To install the new spool, make sure the two linesare captured in the slots opposite each other onthe spool. Make sure the ends of each line areextended approximately 6 in. (152mm) beyondeach slot.

• Thread the line ends into the eyelets in the stringhead. Carefully push the spool into the stringhead (gently pull the line ends to the outside ifnecessary).

• When the spool is positioned in the string head,grasp the line and pull sharply to release them fromthe slots in the spool

• Push down and turn the spool counter clockwiseuntil it no longer turns. Hold the spool down androtate clockwise a small amount. Release the spool.The spool should be locked down in the stringhead. If not, hold down and rotate until locked.

• Make sure the string head and the spool cap areinstalled on the drive shaft

• To install the spool cap, turn the spool cap counterclockwise.

• Pull the string again to rotate the spool into cuttingposition. Push the spool cap down while pulling onthe line ends to manually advance the line and tocheck for proper assembly of the string head.

UNTANGLING THE TRIMMING LINE

• Unplug the power head and remove the spool.

• Unwind the line until the spool is no longertangled.

• Attach line ends into spool slots and reinstall thespool.

ADVANCING THE TRIMMING LINE

• Lower the rotation speed of the string trimmer bygradually releasing tension on the trigger.

• When the rotation speed is low, bump the spoolcap on the ground to extend the line.

• Press down on the trigger to increase the rotationspeed and continue trimming.

LINE TRIMMING CUT-OFF BLADE

(See Figure 10. page iii.)

The trimmer is equipped with a line trimming cut-off blade on the grass deflector. Replace the stringwhen trimming efficiency diminishes. This willmaintain best performance.

_, WARNING: When servicing, use only

identical replacement parts. Use of any other

parts may create a hazard or cause productdamage.

,_ WARNING: Always wear eye protection with

side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1,along with hearing protection. Head protectionmay also be required depending on the typeof attachment used and as prescribed in theattachment's Operator's Manual. Failure to doso could result in objects being thrown into youreyes and other possible serious injuries.

,_ WARNING: Before inspecting, cleaning, or

servicing the machine, shut off motor, wait for allmoving parts to stop, and disconnect extensioncord. Failure to follow these instructions can

result in serious personal injury or property

damage.

La cabeza motriz deberfa sujetarseen una posici6n comoda con la empu_aduratrasera a la altura de la cadera.

Utilice siempre la cabeza motriz a maximavelocidad. Si el accesorio queda rodeado porresiduos, SUELTE EL GATILLO, desconecte la

unidad y elimine los escombros.

cabeza motriz alejada del cuerpo, manteniendo ladistancia entre el cuerpo y el producto. Cualquiercontacto con el cabezal de corte del accesorio podrfaprovocar quemaduras y/o lesiones personales graves.

al utilizar el accesorio de cuchilla para que su uso seaseguro. Lea la informacion de seguridad para unautilizaci6n segura cuando use un accesorio de la hojay consulte las normas de seguridad e instruccionesdel manual de usuario. No utilice nunca un accesoriode desbrozadora con esta cabeza motriz. Elfuncionamiento inadecuado de una hoja o cualquieraccesorio podrfa resultar en lesiones graves.

CONSEJOS DE CORTE( Consulte la Figura 8, p,_ginaiii)

• Evite lassuperficies calientes manteniendo siempre laherramienta alejada de su cuerpo.

• Mantenga la podadora inclinada hacia la zona acortar; esta es el angulo de corte.

• La podadora corta mejor al pasar el aparato dederecha a izquierda. Esto evitarA que se arrojendesechos al operador. Evite cortar en el Areapeligrosa mostrada. Cortar en el Area peligrosapuede causar que los residuos vayan directamenteal operador.

• Utilice la punta del hilo para cortar; no fuerce elcabezal del hilo de corte en la hierba no cortada.

• Las vallas de madera o alambre provocan undesgaste excesivo del hilo y rotura. Las paredes depiedra y ladrillo, los bordillos y la madera puedendesgastar rApidamente el hilo.

• Evite los arboles y arbustos. La corteza de Arbol,las molduras de madera, los frisos y las estacas delas vallas pueden ser da_ados fAcilmente per el hilo.

,_ ADVERTENCIA: Utilice sOlo piezasde recambio identicas en la herramienta. El uso deotras piezas puede ocasionar riesgos o da¢_osen elproducto.

,_ ADVERTENClA: Siempre use gafas

de seguridad o gafas de seguridad con proteccionlateral que cumplen con ANSI Z87.1 durante elfuncionamiento de la herramienta electrica o cuandoesta desprenda polvo. Si la superficie de trabajo espolvorienta, use tambien una careta especffica.

INSTALAR UN CARRETE PRE-DEVANADO EN ELCABEZAL DE HILO ( Ver Figura 9. Pagina iii)

Use solamente un carrete pre-devanado con hilomonofilamento de 2,0mm de diametro.

• Desconecte la cabeza motriz de la fuente dealimentacion. Sujete el cabezal del hilo y destornillela tapa del carrete.

• Para quitar la tapa del carrete, gfrela hacia laderecha.

• Retire y no deseche el resorte del carrete vacfo.Inserte el resorte en el carrete nuevo.

• Para instalar el carrete nuevo, asegQrese deque los 2 hilos quedan enganchado en la ranurasopuestos del carrete nuevo. AsegQrese de que losfinales de cada hilo se extiende aproximadamente152 mm mas alia de la ranura.

• Introduzca los hilos en los ojales del cabezaldel hilo. Introduzca con cuidado el carrete en el

cabezal del hilo (tire suavemente de los hilos haciaafuera en caso necesario). Cuando el carrete seencuentre colocado en el cabezal del hilo, sujetelos hilos y tire con fuerza para liberarlos de lasranuras del carrete.

• Empuje hacia abajo y gire el carrete en sentidocontrario alas agujas del reloj hasta que ya no girema.s. Presione el carrete hacia abajo y gire un pocoen sentido contrario alas agujas del reloj. Suelteel carrete. El carrete debe quedar bloqueado en elcabezal del hilo. En caso contrario, presione haciaabajo y gire hasta que quede bloqueada.

• AsegQrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el carreteestan instalados en el eje motriz.

• Para instalar la tapa del carrete, gire la tapa delcarrete hacia la izquierda.

• Tire de los hilos de nuevo para girar el carretehasta la posici6n de corte. Empuje la tapa delcarrete mientras tira del extremo del hilo parahacerlo avanzar manualmente y compruebe que elcabezal de hilo esta montado correctamente.

ENVOLVER EL HILO EN UN CARRETE VAC|O

Use un hilo monofilamento de 2,0mm de diametro.

• Para quitar la tapa del carrete, gfrela hacia laderecha.

• Retire y no deseche el resorte del carrete vado.

• Elimine cualquier exceso de hilo del carrete.Inserte el extremo del nuevo hilo en el carrete.Enrolle el hilo alrededor del carrete, una secci6ncada vez (ver figura 11, pa.gina iii). Cuando hayacompletado una seccion, bloquee el hilo en laranura y repita el proceso para la segunda secci6n.

• Para instalar el carrete nuevo, asegQrese deque los 2 hilos quedan enganchado en la ranurasopuestos del carrete. Asegurese de que los finalesde cada hilo se extiende aproximadamente 152mm ma.s alia. de la ranura.

• Introduzca los hilos en los ojales del cabezaldel hilo. Introduzca con cuidado el carrete en el

cabezal del hilo (tire suavemente de los hilos haciaafuera en caso necesario).

• Cuando el carrete se encuentre colocado en el

cabezal del hilo, sujete los hilos y tire con fuerzapara liberarlos de las ranuras del carrete.

• Empuje hacia abajo y gire el carrete en sentidocontrario a las agujas del reloj hasta que ya no girema.s. Presione el carrete hacia abajo y gire un pocoen sentido contrario alas agujas del reloj. • AsegOrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el carreteestan instalados en el eje motriz.

• Para instalar la tapa del carrete, gire la tapa delcarrete hacia la derecha.

• Tire de los hilos de nuevo para girar el carretehasta la posici6n de corte. Empuje la tapa delcarrete mientras tira del extremo del hilo parahacerlo avanzar manualmente y compruebe que elcabezal de hilo esta montado correctamente.

DESENREDAR EL HILO DE CORTE

• Desconecte la cabeza motriz y retire el carrete.

• Desenrolle el hilo hasta que el carrete deje deestar enredado.

• Fije los extremos del hilo en las ranuras delcarrete y vuelva a instalar el carrete.

AVANCE DEL HILO DE CORTE

• Baje gradualmente la velocidad de rotaciOn de lapodadora con hilo liberando la tension en el gatillo.

• Cuando la velocidad de rotaci6n sea baja, golpeela tapa del carrete en el suelo para extender el hilo.

• Presione el gatillo para aumentar la velocidad derotaciOn y seguir podando.

CUCHILLA CORTA CABOS DE

El deflector de hierba de la podadora esta. equipadocon un cortahilo. Cambie el hilo cuando la eficacia
