GRAB CHALLENGE 1OverviewThe Grab app no longer just provides a ride-hailing service but has integrated all types of other functionalities including fooddelivery, parcel delivery, payment services, hotel bookings etc. The possibilities are open to adding more services based on unique user needs and wants using the platform.
Challenge“How might Grab create an ‘X’ service on its technology platform that will enable and empower users to fulfill required tasks that may help to solve or, even better, create a new experience?”
For the ChallengeTeams will have to design a Grab ‘X’ service that will benefit the specified users or target market.
• Justification should be provided for your proposed solution on:• Who could potentially use this new service/solution?• Is your service addressing the mass or niche market?• How do you think the service will make sense to the sharing-economy business and the users?

GRAB CHALLENGE 2OverviewSingapore’s population is rapidly ageing. Ageing is generally associated with a decrease in capacity to remain active & connected and this is exacerbated if mobility becomes an issue. Those less mobile might need to be more dependent on others and require support services.
There are personal mobility devices (PMDs) currently available in the market targeted for use by elderly with mobility issues. However such devices are not available to all who need it. There are also no shared PMD services targeted towards use by the elderly to address their mobility needs.
Challenge“How might Grab design a shared PMD service/system for the elderly, to encourage mobility and social interaction in the community they are in?”
For the Challenge• Teams have to determine what the users (elderly) need and what it would take for this
service/solution to be taken up.• The solution should not be limited to the hardware and app only.• Business considerations will be critical for viable initial implementation.

PHILIPS CHALLENGEOverviewPhilips’ aim is to deliver the best garment care experience to users. Users should be able to achieve what Philips’ calls “Effortless Perfection”. Philips’ products are designed to be responsive tools that empower users to effortlessly complete their laundry cycles in a faster time.
ChallengeHow might Philips further save the time users spend on a laundry cycle?
For the Challenge• Teams must design a device concept to further reduce time for home laundry cycles for a
family of 4.• Time saving should be quantified with respect to the current cycle.• The solution must be safe for home use.• Any proposed device should not be larger than existing i.e. washing machine for home.

PSA UNBOXED CHALLENGE
OverviewVideo cameras, laser scanners, lidar, QR optical reader are widely deployed on automated equipment (e.g. cranes, vehicles). Occasionally, performance of these devices are affected due to weather and lighting conditions.
Challenge“How can a low-maintenance and cost-effective solution be provided for use on a range of devices used in PSA to ensure that the lens are kept clear with no vision challenges imposed especially during rainy conditions?”
For the Challenge• PSA is not seeking for solutions relating to automated lens wiper and brush.• Functionality of cameras and scanners shall not be compromised with the adopted
solution

SINGAPORE SAFETY GLASS CHALLENGE
OverviewGlass is a common material used in building facades, but the material does have limitations. Delamination happens when two or more panes of glass bonded with an interlayer come apart. Spontaneous breakage happens when tempered glass breaks without any apparent reason. These affect not only the aesthetics of the glass but pose serious safety issues.
Challenge“How else might SSG reduce delamination and/or spontaneous breakage in glass façades?”
For the Challenge• Teams must design a technical concept to improve delamination and/or spontaneous
breakage of glass façades.• The proposed concept must be compared with current mitigations, and the value
proposition of the concept would need to be justified.
