The system can track a person’s attendance and movements within a facility. This helps to deter would-be thieves or saboteurs, especially if it is linked to CCTV. Security can be further enhanced by storing a photograph of each cardholder in the database so that it can be automatically displayed on the PC screen when the associated card is presented to a particular reader.

Clive’s project experience is in the UK.
He has designed many analogue and IP based solutions for local authorities, town centres, hospitals, schools and colleges, control room design, shopping centres, industrial parks, as well as systems for military bases. He has also developed and delivered courses and practices for the operation of a CCTV control rooms.

CITY CENTRE OF YORK CCTV Leaders of York City council wanted a comprehensive CCTV coverage of the majority of the City Centre with both civilian and Police monitoring over BT fibre. The project involved ICAS associates were commissioned to design a CCTV and control and monitoring centre. The project was seen through design, project management and performance witness testing.
CITY CENTRE OF CARLISLE CCTV ICAS associates were engaged by Carlisle City Council to design a comprehensive system covering city car parks, major traffic junctions and areas of public order concern. The System was monitored by both civilians and the Police. The System was linked to Cumbria wide CCTV system network. The project was seen through design, project management and performance witness testing.
CITY CENTRE OF SUNDERLAND CCTV Sunderland City council required a CCTV system design based on Northumbria Police Specification. ICAS associates provided innovative technique applied using “Forward Umbilical” design which has since been universally adopted by the industry as a contribution to improved reliability. The work included system design of CCTV and Command and control centre, project management, witness testing and handover.

THE TYNE AND WEAR P.T.E. “METRO” SYSTEM Participating in this transport system’s inception in the early 1980s the provision of an integrated system valued at that time at £1.2M for CCTV, Public Address, Passenger Enquiry Intercom and a centrally controlled Clock system on all stations back to a central control. Participation included 5 years assisting in the planning and 5 years in the phased installation.
THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY/ EAST MIDLANDS MOTORWAY POLICE. WSP Consulting engaged the services of an ICAS associate to carry out feasibility studies and provide estimated costs for the conversion of a motorway monitoring and recording system from an analogue tape base system to a state of the art Digital Video Recording system. The project also included the introduction of security cameras coverage under certain motorway intersections.
WEST YOTKSHIRE PASSENGER TRANSPORT Following a formal tender process, ICAS associates were appointed consultants for a project that will see the upgrade and relocation of the Leeds City Council public space CCTV, undertaken in partnership with West Yorkshire Passenger Transport who will share the central monitoring facilities. We were tasked to write the technical specification, followed by the issuing of the tender document, evaluation of the returned bids and the award of the contract, project management and performance witness testing of the newly installed CCTV system.

NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY ICAS associate was engaged to carried out an in-depth university wide survey and analysis of all aspects of campus and property holding security including CCTV, Access Control, Alarms, University Police and Data Security as well as a “Fear-of Crime “ survey and analysis. Made recommendations for the re-organisation of staff and rationalisation of alarm systems. Designed a system for CCTV, vehicle flow management and the protection of valuable assets.
UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA Called in by the University after taking possession of a newly constructed campus and discovering that the contractor had installed a sub-standard and dysfunctional system. ICAS associate was called in and carried out a thorough and detailed physical inspection and provided a report detailing every shortcoming and non-compliant aspect of the system with recommendations for remedy, resulting in the contractor returning to site to rectify the work.
PRINCESS NOURA BINT ABDULRAHMAN UNIVERSITY The IT Systems for the PNBAU project utilize the latest technologies to provide high-degrees of availability, performance, security and quality of service. The enterprise data network was planned to support a fully converged campus environment, handling applications such as voice, data, audiovisual, security, BMS, medical applications, etc. The network also has a high-speed backbone with a centralized core for distribution to the various network nodes throughout the campus.

GEO-LOGISTICS – GLASGOW Designed and Installed a fully IP security system. The system linked 3 depots, in three different regions, across a wide area network. The security system included CCTV systems, Alarm and metal detection system.
ALGHANIM INDUSTRIES – JAHRA WAREHOUSE Alghanim Industries Jahra warehouse is used for the storage of all type of goods. It occupies an area of 34,000 meter square. The client was seeking to review the security and safety of their premises. After an initial site audit and security review, an audit report was produced highlighting the current site weaknesses and vulnerabilities and provided recommendations on how to rectify and mitigate the risks identified; whilst improving staff and visitors’ security experience and reducing theft and fear of crime.

SIGNATURE TOWERS AND DUBAI FINANCIAL MARKET The Signature Towers (STs) are iconic buildings located at the heart of business bay sitting along the Dubai Creek. STs are made up of three structures; each 70-plus stories and a podium linking the STs to the Dubai Financial market. There is a tower for offices , a tower for residential, and a tower for hotel operations. Security system included CCTV, Access Control, Vehicle and Parking control all connected to a central security management system.
QATAR PETROLEUM New purpose built campus wide facility consisting of 15 independent buildings requiring an IP based, converged network infrastructure to allow for the migration of all existing sites in Doha to be merged into one location. Specific design requirements included cable infrastructure, LAN equipment including IP and multiple VLAN addressing requirements, VoIP, Network Management and Wireless LAN solutions to operate on a converged IP platform.
GRAND EGYPTIAN MUSEUM The large scale development of the Grand Egyptian Museum, located in a UNESCO world heritage site adjacent to the Great Pyramid of Giza, will house existing Egyptian antiquities and has been designed to include the latest technology including high-tech virtual displays. The Museum will also serve as a communications hub connecting museums both nationally and internationally.

TEES AND HARTLEPOOL PORT AUTHORITY Following some significant operational security issues, an ICAS associate was engaged by the Client to carried out a detailed survey and analysis of every aspect of the authority’s operation and recommend efficient and cost effective measures to address these issues. The recommendations included CCTV, Access Control and manpower utilisation including the Home Office Warranted Harbour Police. All the recommendations have been fully carried out.
MALTA MARITIME AUTHORITY [MMA] The MMA required to undertake a project for the provision of Island-Wide CCTV camera installations in ports and harbours linked to an HQ control centre. Cameras should be capable of identifying occupants of a small boat over a distance of one kilometre in ”overcast starlight” conditions. ICAS associate developed an efficient and cost-effective solution to every facet of this difficult consultancy challenge.
