Interasias Automatic Stacked Disc Microfiltrations (MSF)
Interasias innovation allows microfiltration to take place under
similar conditions and with filtration performance not previously
attained by conventional filtration systems. INTERASIAs
Automatic Cleaning Stack Microfiltration unit allow for high
turndown ratio without any impact to the performance unlikeconventional filtration, which requires a minimum flow to
operate. This high flexibility makes operation of the MSF a
highly cost effective solution. InterAsias MSF is able to operate
under a wider temperatures range and harsh environments
commonly encountered in most industries and are capable to
separate solids from fluids at levels down to 5 microns.
Accumulated solids are washed away from the MSF through an
automated backwash system with the minimum of water
compared to conventional system. After backwashing, Therejuvenated MSF is ready to begin the fluid filtration again at
peak performance.

How does INTERASIAsAutomatic StackedDisc Microfiltrations
(MSF) work?INTERASIAs Automatic Stacked DiscMicrofiltrations (MSF) uses a process where solidparticles larger than the filter element areremoved using thermoplastic discs. The discshave special serrations on both sides resultingin a unique fine labyrinth, which filters out thesolid particles in the fluid.
Fluid filtration is carried out under pressurewith the fluid flowing from the outer diameterof the filter element into the unique finelabyrinth, exiting at the inner diameter. Thefiltered fluid is carried up the stack of discsthrough holes in the upper holding plate.
INTERASIAs MSF system will continue thefiltration until a preset differential pressurebetween the inlet and outlet of the filtervessel, typically in the range of 10 20 psig. An
Automated Backwash cycle is then activatedat this preset differential pressure and therejuvenation begins automatically. Backwash isalso selectable for timer operation.
The unique design of the MSF assembly providesan effective backwashing of the filter elements.The pressure of the backwash media forces theassembly to release and separate the filterelements. In this separated state, thecontaminants are easily dislodged and forced
out under pressure through the bottom drain ofthe vessel. In less than 5 minutes*, the filterelements are cleaned and restored to its fullflow capacity.(* actual time varies according to the capacity of the MSFsystem)

INTERASIAs Automatic Stacked DiscMicrofiltration Filtration Cycle
Filter vessel is built to ASME standards, and all internal parts are removable for cleaning andoverhaul. There are no internal moving parts. Lifting lugs are standard on all vessels. O-rings are
used for cover plate sealing to eliminate critical torque procedure for tight sealing. Backwashdrains are located at the bottom to ensure full drainage at the lowest point of the vessel. Ventare provided to allow the vessel to be filled prior to bring it to filtering operation.
Forward filtration cycle
Fluid filtration is carried out underpressure of typically 40 500 psig withsolids building up on the outer diameter ofthe filter discs. The filtered effluent flowsthrough the labyrinth and exits throughthe center of the discs candle.
Backwash cycle
When backwash initiates, the filter discsseparate and the accumulated solids aredislodged and forced out of the filterdiscs. The solids exit at the bottom of the
vessel. The filter is fully rejuvenated in abackwash cycle of minutes duration.

INTERASIAsMSF Filter Element
MSF elements are rated nominally thatindicates the filters degree of filtration atthe first instant of flow unlike conventionalfiltration system. The rating is based onsize of the smallest assumed sphericalparticle that could pass through the finefilter labyrinth. This rating eliminates thetrial and error in filter operation especiallyduring the first instant of flow. Establishedquality control check points in the
manufacturing process assure repeatableand consistent filtration rating, flowperformance and dimensional accuracy.
Disc element
The thermoplastic round discs are designedwith unique micro-paths on the surface toprovide absolute fluid flow path whenstacked together. This ensures that the
fluid flows only through the fine labyrinthassuring of absolute filtration efficiency.
Discs candle assembly
The discs are stacked together to form acandle. This candle is a permanent with nodisposal requirements.
Cell-pack
Multiple candles are assembled together toform a cell-pack which provide for therequired fluid filtration flow rates. Thecell-pack is easily lifted out of the filtervessel for cleaning and overhaul.
