2018 SITE IMPROVEMENT PLAN

The Site Improvement Plan (SIP) is a formal document that is a DECD

requirement that outlines the teaching and learning expectations that is our

fundamental work for the year.

We have three main goals that we will be working towards achieving during

2018 –

1. To develop productive dispositions in our students to equip them to be

successful lifelong learners

High engagement with learning

Growth mindset

Ability to learn independently and collaboratively

Taking responsibility for their own learning

2. Equip students with a range of flexible thinking and learning strategies

that will allow them to respond adaptively in a range of situations

3. Maximise achievement for all students in all learning areas

Our work will centre on the Australian Curriculum with emphasis in Literacy,

Numeracy and Science.

The 16 Habits of Mind and our FRESH values will be prominent across all of our

work.

As a team of educators we will continue to develop consistency of practice

by further working on our R-7 Agreements in Literacy, Numeracy and Habits of

Mind.

Our aspiration is for all of our students to achieve to their highest potential.

This will mean that students will experience productive struggle, challenge,

expected to take a risk with their learning, to manage and learn from failure.

There will be times when students will feel uneasy and apprehensive. Our

students need to develop the skills for learning, to be able to problem solve,

be a critical and creative thinker and above all thrive when faced with

challenging situations.

N.B. The complete Site Improvement Plan and Targets for 2018 is published on

our school’s website.

Term 1 Highlights and Achievements

Facilities Update There will be considerable work taking place during the upcoming holidays –

Lake Westbourne we believe will be finally solved!! The broken underground pipes will be repaired

and two new sumps installed that should make a huge difference to the run off and overflow of water

out to the street rather than collecting as our very own lake. Once this has been completed the

pathway along chess lane is expected to also be repaired.

The outside of Marlborough will have gutters replaced and then be painted.

In Yard B out front of the Library the asphalt area is to be resurfaced.

An Engineer has completed the survey required to inform what is needed to demolish the pool and

reinstate to a level surface. DECD are now seeking tenders to complete the work.

Governing Council have approved funding to go towards a brand new

playground to replace the one in Yard B. We will be starting to get a range

of companies to provide ideas, suggestion and costings so that we can

work with our students to create a design that will accommodate Year 2 up

in the not too distant future.

This year the RSL is inviting all schools in Adelaide to participate in a special remembrance activity to

commemorate the final year of The Centenary of Anzac 2014-2018. This activity is to create a

banner. M4’s banner will be on display at the Semaphore and Port Adelaide RSL Sub-Branch during

ANZAC day (25th of April).

We worked in groups, brainstormed our ideas, and then created our final banner.

GRIP Leadership

On the 16th of March, the School Captains and Student

Executive Presidents attended the GRIP Leadership

Conference held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

This conference was all about what makes a good leader

and how to help our school in being leaders.

During the conference we learnt valuable life leadership

skills that will benefit us and our school. We learnt about

what integrity is, ways to transform into a leader and ways

to contribute a positive change.

All of these activities are aligned to our Habits of Mind,

FRESH Values and community service. We came back to

school with the knowledge of what a leader is and how to

help our school. Now we are all planning 30 minute

sessions, briefly explaining to all 6/7 students in our school

about what we learnt. With all this new knowledge we will

be able to contribute positive change around our school

to benefit others.
