What’s in a Name?

Do you remember your baptism? Of course not, unless you were baptized as an adult. We all remember

our birthday and rightfully so, for that is the day we celebrate the miracle of our birth. It

is the date in time that we received our name and that name is important. When we were

received into the church at our baptism, it is the first question asked by the priest or dea-

con. In today’s Gospel according to St. Luke, Elizabeth and Zechariah are asked the

same question, and the answer stunned their family, friends, and neighbors. His name

would be John. His name is interpreted as a heartfelt response by someone who has

something to give to one who has a need. And John would fulfill his mission to a hurting

world by announcing the Good News of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

By our baptism, we are called to do the same. Today, we may not remember our baptism day, but lets nev-

er forget our calling to share the Good News by our every thought, word, and deed. It is the message that

is most needed in our hurting world today, as it was for John, 2,000 years ago.

Happy Baptism Day! Deacon Joe

Mission Trip Update Thank you to June Kelly, Joe Repko, Marlee Snyder, Gina DiSantis and John White for chaperoning this trip! An even bigger thank you to our teens… you showed us how excited you are to do God’s work and we are so proud of you!

Thank you! I wanted to say yet another thank you to our parish. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your monetary donations, material donations and most of all your prayers for our second mission trip we have partici-pated in. Also, a big thank you to all of our parishioners who sponsored teens going to Steubenville and helped physically get us there with transportation. Without your support, we could not give these opportunities to our youth. I am blessed to be a part of such a giving parish. Our teens are more involved than ever. They are our fu-ture and I am happy to say I am looking forward to see-ing what our future teens will do! -Heather Shainline

Steubenville Update We have 24 students attending and 6 chaperones. The dates are July 13th to July 15th. Thank you to Christie Edling, Sarah and Brandon Sullivan and Deacon Joe and Patty Petrauskas for helping chaperone this year! Please pray for our teens as they embark on an amazing journey with Christ! We are looking for some sponsors to help with the costs of some teens who may not be able to afford the entire cost of the registration fee. If you are interested in sponsoring a teen, please call Heather Shainline or email her at [email protected].

Send off Masses: Every year before our summer trips, we have a send off Mass to prepare our teens and chaperone for the journey they are about to experience. We welcome ALL families and friends of our teens to attend as well as all of our pa-rishioners! Steubenville - July 8th at 11:00am Mass

Summer Activities As we start off our summer, there will be some youth group events over the summer. Please check your emails regularly. Heather will try to plan a few events, however if attendance is low, some of these activities may be can-celled. Some possible activities include: s’mores and scrip-ture, mini-golf, hiking, movie night… please let Heather know what you want to do!

Teen Adoration In our Holy Family Chapel Ignite Adoration Hour.” 1For all teens

grades 7 thru grades 12. You now have a

great opportunity, weekly on Fridays from 5

p.m. to 6 p.m. to visit with Our Lord Jesus. Are

you having issues with

relationships; problems with

your grades; find yourself

arguing with your siblings or

parents; feeling

disconnected with your

peers; experiencing anxiety

about life in general? Stop

in and talk with Our Lord...remember He, too,

was a teenager and most likely experienced

all of these feelings. Stay for 10 minutes or

the entire hour. He is calling you by name

Next weekend, a Carmelite Friar will be with us at all Masses to tell us about Carmelite missionary work. The Carmelites respond to the call to love one another through prayer and action by establishing ministries where there is the greatest need. They create humanitarian programs to relieve the suffering of the poor, minister to those in hospitals and prisons, provide education, and conduct spiritual and religious formation in almost 40 countries on five continents. Your generosity in the second collection next week to support the Carmelite Friars’ missionary work will be greatly appreciated.

WIDOW AND WIDOWERS GRIEF SUPPORT Our “REACH OUT” schedule will be predicated on a show of interest. The next meeting will be scheduled as needed. For those that have lost a loved one, the challenges are great. We ask all to pray for the families who have lost a loved-one as they adapt to life after loss. Individual sessions are also available. For more information and for anyone who has suffered a loss of any one close to them, please call Dn. Mike Boyle at 484-336-9849.

HOW DO WE HEAR CHRIST’S CALL FOR US? One thing to understand is there is never an age limit to when or how often we are called by Christ. If you are interested in pursuing this through a spiritual direction process call Kevin Martin, S.F.O., M.S. at: 610-310-7077. All of us are at-tempting to discover God’s plan for us in this world ...Give Kevin a call and begin the journey of discovery!

BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL: Many thanks to those who have made a pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Making a six-month pledge to the Appeal allows you to maximize the amount that you may give by making monthly payments. For example, a $120 gift to the Appeal may be setup with six $20 installments. Remember, every gift counts, no matter how small. Your generosity funds the annual budget for 6 important Diocesan ministries in our area. You can make your gift online at FaithHopeCharityGives.org.

FLOCKNOTE: If you would like to be notified by TEXT or EMAIL of important parish news, holy day re-
