The Innovation in Community, Policy and Leadership (I-CPL) concentration offers three platforms to choose from. Platforms are defined as major starting points for the concentration that unite the macro practice program and distinguish it from other forms of practice. Platforms represent core ideas in macro social work including: Leadership, Community Building/Development, and Policy (under development).

Leadership Platform

• The is Leadership Platform for two types of students: 1) those interested in leadership careers in nonprofit with positions such as program officers in private foundations, or executive directors/administrators of social service agencies or professional leadership positions in social work or 2) those interested in careers related to running a small to midsized nonprofit, or coordinating or directing community-based programs.

• The Community Building/Development Platform offers two focus areas for students interested in: 1) international social work with careers in immigration and human rights, international development, and economic and social development; and 2) broad-based community perspective prepared for work in community development corporations, community organizing and work with community coalitions and place-based initiatives.
