Fran Scearce, liturgist God of all glory, on this first day you began creation, bringing light out of darkness. On this first day you began your new creation, raising Jesus Christ out of the darkness of death. On this Lord’s Day grant that we, the people you create by water and the Spirit, may be joined with all your works in praising you for your great glory.

Silence is kept

Congregation rising, row by row, as ushers pass

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

God is with you! And also with you. People of faith, let us offer our prayers of joy and thanksgiving to God.

Let us gladly celebrate with praise the presence of Christ. Let us pray.

A SPECIAL WELCOME TO ALL NEWCOMERS: we greet you in the name of Jesus Christ! Please fill out a visitor card, located in the pew back, and drop it in the offering plate when it is passed.

PLEASE WELCOME guest accompanist, Janet Coleman, who will be playing during today’s worship service while Bob Hinson is away.

EARLY BIRD COFFEE FELLOWSHIP every Sunday, 9:30 am in the library. Stop by for coffee and conversation!

COFFEE, TEA...ME? We need volunteers to host coffee fellowship after the service on Sunday during the months of October and December. It’s easy to do, and all supplies are provided. It is a great way to greet everyone after the service. Contact Wendy Jenkins if interested, [email protected], or 503.816.4916.

IN RECOGNITION of our nation’s Independence Day, Communion will feature Boston brown bread. This and other breads were staples not only throughout New England but also in frontier towns as the country expanded west. A gluten-free soda cracker - also a staple to early settlers - is available in the red cup.

VALLEY KIDS in 1st through 5th grade and our middle school kids are invited to Sunday School in Room 17. Parents may pick up their children from Room 17 at any time.

IT IS SUMMER TIME, and the choir will not sing in worship during July and August. We will be having our wonderful soloists provide solo anthem music during those months. Also, we will resume our tradition of replacing the prelude with a “hymn-sing.” Arrive a little early for church and be prepared to shout out the number of your favorite hymn.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL HAS ARRIVED! Our VBS week-long camp will begin tomorrow, Monday, July 8. Please keep the leaders, helpers, and campers in your prayers as they have a fun-filled week!

FRONT ENTRY FLOWERS: Valley’s floral calendar gives you an opportunity to remember or honor a loved on e by signing up for a special date or just to provide a floral arrangement to enhance our front entry. As summer is here, I would be happy to arrange local flowers that may grow in your yard. You may also bring in your own arrangement, or make a monetary donation, and I would be happy to create an arrangement of locally grown eco-friendly flowers. Please sign up on the calendar near the office and call me, Karen Acker, at 971.263.3413 if you have any questions.

TAI CHI will take a break during the summer months, July and August. Informal class will resume again in September.

Eternal Father, Strong to Save Nº 8

When we find ourselves in the wilderness, or our jobs, or just down the street, God is with us! God will provide for us, God will nourish us, God will send us. God is with us! Go out into the world to love and serve the Lord. Alleluia! Amen.

You are invited to remain seated to conclude worship with the postlude.
