WHY DO WE

NEED

EMULSIFIED FUELS ?.

Page 5: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

1.FOSSIL FUELS ARE DEPLETING WITH COMPULSIONS TO LOOK FOR ALTERNATE ENERGY SOURCES.

2.STEEP INCREASE IN THE PRICE OF CRUDE OIL.

3.POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING NECESSIATES LESS POLLUTING OR POLLUTION FREE FUELS.

4.ALL STRAIGHT VEGETABLE SEED BASED BIO-FUELS EXCEPT JATROPHA GROWN IN FORESTS AND ALGAE REQUIREING LESS LAND AND LESS WATER EATS AWAY LAND FOR FOOD CROPS CREATING FOOD SHORTAGE AND SPIRALLING FOOD PRICES AS WITNESSED NOW IN SOME OF THE COUNTRIES.

5.EMULSIFIED FUELS MAKES AVAILABLE THE ENERGY CONTAINED IN THE WATER MOLECULES AT LESS INPUT ENERGY AND AT LESS COST.

Page 6: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

6. Emulsified fuels help bio-fuels to be a cheap green fuel.

7. Bio-fuels always contain water and separation of water increase processing costs and require additional energy input.

8. When bio-fuels are emulsified, water need not be separated.

9. Bio-fuels are known to increase NOx emissions though capable of reducing the soot/particulate emissions that they are only blended at the moment with petroleum fuels in volumes ranging from 5 % to maximum 20 %.

10.Use of emulsified bio-fuels and petro fuels in proper ratio will greatly reduce both NOx emission and soot/particulate emission along with reduced energy costs.

What is an “EMULSIFIED FUEL “ ?. An EMULSIFIED FUEL is a mixture of water and fuel in which small droplets of water are encapsulated by the fuel.

Page 8: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

How much water can be mixed with fuel ?.

An amount of water equal to 20-25% of the fuel oil can be used without any alterations or modifications.

An emulsion with more than 25% can be produced for certain applications but the injection pump components need modifications.

When water is used as a co-fuel for any combustion in an external combustion equipment such as a boiler, furnace, gas turbine, process heating ,room heating or in an internal combustion engines such as a diesel engine used in mobility of water equal to 20-25 % of the fuel oil may be

Page 9: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

Vehicles in automotive, marine, earth moving, mining and stationary engines used in power generation, industrial applications where HEAT OUTPUT FROM FUEL and THERMAL EFFICIENCY ,POWER OUTPUT cannot be compromised, the OPTIMUM AMOUNT OF WATER IN FUEL is limited to 20% to 25 % as established by TEST RESULTS below. This confirms that 20-25% water in fuel emulsion can be used in many applications without alteration/modification.

How do you measure in the HYDRODRIVE EMLSIFIER UNIT the water content of the fuel oil system ?.

This is done by measuring the volume of water and the volume of fuel in two separate containers and then mixing them together and the whole process controlled by a Programmable Logic Control unit for automatic operation in small and medium systems or through flow metering devices controlled by PLC in large volume systems such as a power plant.

How is the water in oil emulsion produced in HYDRODRIVE'S HYDROBURN TECHNOLOGY and what is the equipment used?.

Usually additives are used to prevent the liquid droplets from coalescing.

We use electrostatics, because of the well known remarkable properties of water. Preferential ion uptake leads to a tunable droplet and surprisingly, additive-free, water-in-oil emulsions.charge

Page 12: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

The immiscible water phase acts as an ‘‘ion sink’’for the charged species in the oily solvent.

Ions from the oil strongly partition into the higher dielectric constant water phase.

Ion drainage and self-charging through preferential partitioning are intrinsic properties of oil–water mixtures.

EMULSIFIED FUEL COMBUSTION BENEFITS IN GAS TURBINE:

Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Group have conducted study on emulsified fuels and found that emulsified JP-4 fuel perform almost the same manner as JP-4 fuel with minor variation. The spray characteristics of these emulsified fuels flowing through a pressure atomizing fuel nozzle were found to be essentially identical to liquid JP-4. The results indicated that only minor differences in combustor performance exist between JP- 4 and emulsified fuel under the steady-state conditions tested. The same was found to be true for light-off transient and altitude relight conditions.

INDIAN ECONOMYCAN

BENEFIT FROM

EMULSIFIED FUELS .

Page 38: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

HOW USE OF EMULSIFIED FUELS WILL BENEFIT THE

NATION AND THE ECONOMY ?.

CRUDE PRICE INCREASES TO USD 118 A BARREL !.

INDIA IMPORTS 38 % MORE CRUDE OIL IN 11 MONTHS

OF FY 2007-08

India's crude oil import bill has jumped by over 38 per cent

to US$ 61.16 billion in the first 11 months of the 2007-08 fiscal

on the back of a surge in global oil prices.

India imported 111.089 million tons of crude oil in

April-February 07-08 for Rs 243,205.5 crore

Page 39: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

HOW MUCH IS THE INCREASE ?.

US$61.165 billion as opposed to 101.213 million tons crude

imported a year ago for Rs 200,321 crore or US$44.124 billion.

These are the latest data available from the Petroleum Ministry.

Page 40: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

HOW MUCH CAN INDIA SAVE WITH EMULSIFIED FUELS ?

Emulsified fuels can be used with middle and heavy distillates, which account for over 70 % of crude import.

In terms of present crude import, we can save 20 million tons of crude worth Rs.48,640 crores or US $10,713 billion at present price level !.

Page 41: Hydroburn on Demand Fuel Technology

WILL THE EMULSIFIED FUELS TRANSFORM THE INDIAN ECONOMY ?.

Yes. Rs.48,640 Crores saving can be invested into ALGAE FARMS and JATROPHA cultivation in the forests lands to FURTHER CUT DOWN THE CRUDE IMPORTS and for upgrading the farmer's life and the uplift of the RURAL ECONOMY.

BIO-FUELS esterification plants and emulsified fuel retrofits will trigger industrial boom and employment potential all over the country. INDIA NEED TO MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION NOW !.
