HW # 23- Rational Numbers worksheet Study for QUIZ 2-1 to 2-6 (review last night’s HW) Warm up
Week 6, Day Three
Is the statement below true or false? Explain how you arrived at your conclusion.
My number and your number are both divisibleby 8. Therefore, the sum of our numbers will be divisible by 4.
Warm Up Response1. If my number is divisible by 8, then 8 is a factor
of my number.
2. Since 4 is a factor of 8, my number would also be divisible by 4.
3. The same would be true for your number.
4. Therefore, even if I add the numbers together, 4 would remain a factor of the sum.
EX: 16 + 32 = 48 which is divisible by 4 (and 8)
Homework Check You should have checked your answers online last night.
PLEASE be sure that you do this. If you did not get a majority of the problems correct, fill out a Hall Pass in your Panther Planner and come see me! There is a quiz on Day Four!
Goals for Today
• Mystery Numbers
• Solving Equations (both single and multi-step)
Mystery Numbers
Each group has a different statement. Decide if the statement is TRUE or FALSE.
Prove your answer.Be sure to use complete sentences and math vocabulary.

Include an explanation of why you did what you did for #4.
2-7 EXTRA PRACTICE EXAMPLES
m + 4.6 = 9m + 4.6 = 9
Since 4.6 is added to m, subtract 4.6 from both sides to undo the addition.
Once you have solved an equation, it is a good idea to check your answer. To check your answer, substitute your answer for the variable in the original equation.
Remember!

Additional Examples 1C: Solving Equations with Decimals
x = 18
Since x is divided by 1.2, multiply both sides by 1.2.

x 1.2 = 1.2 • 15 1.2 •
Solve.
m + 9.1 = 3
m + 9.1 = 3
Since 9.1 is added to m, subtract 9.1 from both sides to undo the addition.
