Just Plain Joe May Be the Best The calories in your coffee

The Huffington Post reports that 500 billion cups of coffee peryear are consumed around the world with nearly half of the population in America drinking a coffee beverage each day. Plain black coffee might have several health benefits, yet manyAmericans choose to lace their coffee with large amounts ofsugar, flavored syrups, caramel, chocolate sauces, heavy creamand whipped toppings. Sure they taste great, almost like you’renot drinking coffee, but they end up loaded with hundreds of calories and double digit grams of fat.

A 24 oz. Starbucks White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino withwhipped cream has 760 calories and 13 grams of fat and equals

2.23 small French Fries fromBurger King. If you’re aKrispy Kreme fan, their 20oz. Mocha Dream Chilleryields 1,050 calories, 41grams of fat and could beswapped for 6.17 WhiteCastle cheeseburgers.

Maybe the taste of plainblack java is worth gettingused to again.

There is nothing like watching“The Masters” golf tournamentfrom Augusta, GA, to reallyknow spring is in the air. What aremarkably beautiful place, bothfor participants and patrons. Many of you probably didn’t watchmore than the final two rounds, but if you are a golfer you wereprobably glued to the TV all week.

Watching professionals practiceand play can help you learn more about any sport, and thisholds especially true with golf. Posture, grip and alignment arealways the basics of producing a decent golf swing, and proper“pg&a” is never more evident when viewing golf pros on therange.

Sure, they practice more then we can imagine, but each practice session starts the same and ends the same. First, theystretch the big muscles used throughout the swing, and perform some sort of warm-up routine. They then start out

hitting small short shots with pitching wedges and thenprogress through the longer irons and fairway metals beforehitting their drivers. This is to ensure that their bodies warmup properly while dialing in a slow, smooth swing tempobefore launching some monster drives. They then reverse theprocess and end with the small short shots once again.

Technology was also very evident on the range at The Masters.A dual radar technology launch monitor called TrackMan 4was the orange square set up behind a lot of the players, giving them instant feedback for their minor adjustments.

TrackMan 4 allows them toknow launch angle, ball speed, club head speed, carry distance, and more in an instant after hitting a golf shot. You maynot be able to afford the$24,995 price tag for theTrackMan 4, but you can stillpractice like the pros everytime you go to the range.

Millennials are arguably the most talked about and sought aftergeneration, second only perhaps to Baby Boomers. This highprofile generation is typically defined as being born between1981 and 1995, although there is some variance in the daterange. As the children of Boomers, they are undeniably thelargest generation, totaling more than 83.1 million nationally.1,077,027 Millennials represent 27% of the Lower HudsonValley total population.

Only 57% of Millennials are white, with the majority of theremainder shifting to Hispanics (21%) proving that this group is as diverse as it is sizeable. Many misconceptions define thisgroup in a narrow, negative way: they’re entitled, free spirited, spoiled and flakey. As every generation has its quirks and tendencies, we can’t be short sided because they are creatingnew opportunities to engage with them in authentic ways.

Millennials account for $1 trillion of spending. They are lessmaterialistic and more interested in experiences and spendaccordingly. It’s why 78% choose to spend money on a desirableexperience or event over buying something desirable. Althoughfrugal, they are very charitable, and their involvement goes beyondcustomary giving to volunteering and putting their digital socialnetworks to work in support of their beloved causes.

Communicating via text is their preference as they fuel anentire economy of sharing almost everything with each other in present time. They prefer dynamic interaction rather thanpassive attendance. A fear of missing out drives them to attend, engage in, and share experiences widely. Labeled as multi-taskers,they consume 18 hours of media a day all facilitated by mobiledevices. They want to be part of the conversation. Across theboard they are very social, with 71% engaging in social mediadaily.

To make a meaningful connection with Millennials, you need tobring a new degree of authenticity and responsiveness to yourcommunication style.

Millennials! Are you in the know?
