THE YEAR OF FAITH Teach me your ways, O LORD. Psalm 25:4 “I believe, help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 A New Year presents new opportu-nities. Whether you’ve made some

resolutions or not, I encourage you to make this one: experience God’s mercy more often. Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment… Acts 3:19, 20 Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She replied, “No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.” John 8:10, 11

The Saturday schedule for the Sacrament of Recon-ciliation has changed. At Ascension it will be on Saturdays 4:15-4:45pm. At St. Bernard it will be on Saturdays 7:15-7:45pm. If you experience the burden of sin weighing down upon you, come and allow Je-sus to remove the burden through the forgiveness of your sins. When our sins are forgiven we more read-ily experience the joy of salvation. Joyfully in Christ, Fr. Gregory

2013 CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL BEGINS “All the earth is filled with his glory” Isaiah: 6:1-2a, 3-8

The 2013 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) is underway. Many of our parishioners will soon receive or have received a mailing from Archbishop Nienstedt requesting your support of the 2013 Catholic Services Appeal. Please respond generously.

The Appeal funds services that no one parish or individual can do alone; including food and shelter, education, spiritual sup-port, monetary assistance, and sacraments to individuals who are hospitalized, disabled, imprisoned, or in nursing homes. The CSA also serves low-income seniors, pregnant mothers, refugees, and immigrants. Its funding helps prepare our semi-narians for the priesthood, provides care for our retired priests, and goes beyond our borders to our 65,000 brothers and sisters at our mission in Venezuela.

This year, the theme of the Appeal is: “All the earth is filled with his glory”. Funds given to the Catholic Services Appeal help to shine the light of God’s glory not only in our parish but throughout our Archdiocese and beyond. As you consider the amount that you will give to the 2013 CSA, please contemplate God’s gifts to you and reflect on your gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work our parish, of our Archdio-cese and of the Church throughout the world is one way to ex-press this gratitude.

Please note that when our parish reaches its goal, 25% of all funds received will be returned for use in our parish.

Catholic Schools Week – Jan 27th through Feb 2nd 2013—Catholic Schools Week kicks off January 27th with a Mass at 8AM and a Pancake Breakfast in the school cafeteria sponsored by the Ascension Knights of Columbus. As we get ready for the cele-bration of Catholic Schools Week, let's turn our attention to what makes us Catholic. When we, as parents and teachers, work with our children to make them knowledgeable in their faith and com-fortable discussing it with others, we have laid the groundwork for the spread of our faith. Faith is always very demanding because faith leads us beyond ourselves. Faith gives a vision of life's pur-pose and always stimulates us to action. This year is the year of Faith. Now more than ever, Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the enduring value of Catholic Education. St. Bernard School pro-vides high quality, faith based education that will continue to pay the dividends for years to come. “Catholic Schools: Raise the Standards” underscores the commitment of St. Bernard School to continue the Long Tradition of Excellence. Families and communi-ty can count on St. Bernard to instill in students the faith, knowledge, morals and discipline that will enable students to fulfill their future roles as committed citizens, productive employees and effective leaders. Let us raise the standards of our children in their spiritual life, academic life and in family life. Every year we ask families to do a family project in preparation for our Catholic Schools Week. Fundraiser Notes - Sarpino’s Pizzeria: The last two months we’ve had pizza days, we earned about $150.00 in November and $177.00 in December. Our next date is January 21st 2013. We made arrangements to have this fundraiser on every third Monday of each month. We are getting 15% of the entire day’s profit. It’s super easy you can place the order and have it delivered to the school for you to pick up at 5pm or you can stop by Sarpino’s Piz-zeria and pick it up yourself. Take a break from cooking and sup-port the school

Today— Sunday, January 13th after 8 am Mass we will be tak-ing down the Christmas decorations. If you would like to help please meet at the Narthex after church. The more the merrier! Thanks.
