Humphrey the Bonzo Hound
Humphrey is delightfully retro, the original pattern having
been adapted from one published in 1972 (when I was VERY
young!)
Here he’s made in blanket scraps with felt ears, but he would
look great made in almost any combination of fabrics.
You’ll need sufficient fabric to cut out the pieces shown on the
template (at whatever size you decide to make) plus stuffing
and cotton embroidery floss. I sewed my Humphrey by
machine, but you could hand sew if you prefer.
The patterns allow for 0.25” seam allowance, and be sure to
clip curves to make for a smooth finish when turning right side
out. When stuffing use small pieces of stuffing and work his
limbs into place as you go. If the stuffing goes lumpy, pull it
out, re-fluff and start again!

The pattern above is the original pattern – I didn’t cut an eye from
felt, but used French knots. Also I only cut two ear pieces from felt
and attached to either side of his head with blanket stitch. This
version of Humphrey is my copyright and must not be copied for
resale, though please feel free to share him with your friends.
