THANKS, GUYS: We took some time

out this week to say thank you to Adam,

Dave and Dave from Donnelley

Constructions. Project Director Andrew

presented them with a picture of the

early works for the Stage 2 hospital

building at Blacktown.

Donnelleys also delivered the B2Hub,

renal in-centre, and Regional Dialysis

Centre, and beautified our child care

centre by donating native plants to

brighten up the outdoor fencing.

Below, our project control group and

project team with the Donnelleys guys.

It was all hands on deck for our B2Hub

open house at Blacktown this week, and

more than 100 staff and volunteers came

to have a look at how we’ll be working in

the future.

The B2Hub is an activity-based

workspace. No-one has a set desk - you

choose the workspace that best fits the

task you need to do.

It was great to see so many of our Stage

2 teams coming through including ICU,

social work, theatres and ED were

among the groups that came to see how

their spaces will work when the new

building opens in 2019.

Thanks to everyone from B2Hub who

helped on the day! You’re amazing!

WE LOVE THE SMELL OF

CONCRETE IN THE

MORNING: Our Taylors

construction team had a

bird’s eye view of the first

Stage 2 concrete pour this

morning.

This is the ground slab for

our new multi-storey car

park which will be completed

later this year, giving us

another 400 car spaces on

site.

Building cadet Nimer

captured these pics from the

top of our (yet unnamed)

crane.

You can watch the progress

from the P1 car park. And

help us name the crane by

submitting your idea here.

MIXING IT UP

DIALYSIS TAKES SHAPE THE WIRE

DOWN TO THE WIRE: It may seem like a small detail but

the change to wire baskets for clinical consumables has

been a major war on waste project for us. This week, Ward

1A at Mount Druitt stepped up to a leaner, greener and

cleaner storage solution.

FIT FOR PURPOSE: The fit-out of our new community

dialysis centre at Mount Druitt is coming along nicely, thank

you! The new centre will open later this year, providing

services closer to home for our Mount Druitt patients, who

currently travel to Blacktown for treatment.

BIG EFFORT: Thanks to everyone who joined in Australia’s

Biggest Morning Tea.

The event went like hot cakes (sorry) with a BBQ at Mount

Druitt and cake stalls at both hospitals. Cupcakes with

caramel syringes sold out first, as usual, but there were

plenty of others to choose from!

Thanks to everyone who helped out by baking. And BBQ’ing.

And eating.

GOODBYE,

FAREWELL: It

was a fine

farewell for

Ingrid Solomons

from WSLHD

Pathology this

week. Thank

you and best

wishes from

Sayed and the

team!

Colin knew exactly what to write when asked, “Before I

die, I want to…?”

He had just one word to add: Survive.

This week Blacktown became one of 270 cities around the

world to host the incredible art project Before I Die.

Helen Smith (below) from the supportive and palliative care

team in our new cancer centre was inspired to create the

pop-up art installation after watching a TED talk by Candy

Chang. Candy started the project following the death of a

loved one.

Each wall is a tribute to living an examined life. Helen says

it's been challenging, but it's opening up a lot of

conversations.

Cheryl was the first person to

sign the wall. A hospital patient,

she asked the team to share her wish to reconnect

with her family.

Congratulations to Helen and her team of builders and

helpers for bringing this special event to Blacktown.

BEFORE I DIE, I WANT TO...
