 2010 Miss Chicago Scholarship Pageant Application 

  

 GENERAL INFORMATION: The 2010 Miss Chicago Scholarship Pageant will be held February 27th, 2010, at The Chicago Public Library Harold Washington Center (in the theatre), Chicago, IL. This is a Miss America preliminary pageant. The new Miss Chicago will compete in the Miss Illinois Scholarship Pageant, which will be held June, 2010. Contestants will be e-mailed an additional packet of forms upon receipt of the attached entry form.

COMPETITION: Competition will include the following:

Interview - 25% of Score: Contestant will compete in a 9 minute private, standing interview. At the end of 9 minutes, the contestant will have 30 seconds to cover any additional issues that she would like to address, comment on, or clarify. Physical Fitness in Swimsuit 15% of Score: On-stage modeling of a one-piece or two-piece swimsuit with heels. Any swimsuit in good taste may be worn. Swimsuits will be checked at check-in. This phase of competition is designed to see how well the contestant maintains a lifestyle of good physical health, whether she meets the public expectation of a title holder, and whether or not she has the confidence needed to be a title holder. Talent 35% of Score: Talent may be anything you chose that does not cause any health, fire or safety hazards to the audience or damage to the theater, and will be limited to 90 Seconds. Background music must be on CD. Some examples of common talents are singing, dancing, playing an instrument or monologue. Evening Wear 20% of Score: The evening wear phase of competition is designed for the judges to assess the contestant’s beauty, poise, grace, and stage presence. Evening wear competition may be in the evening wear of your choice which expresses your personality (typically a long gown and heels is worn for this competition). On-stage Question 5% of Score: One generic on-stage question will be asked of each contestant. This phase of competition is designed for the contestant to make an on-stage statement of her interests, opinions and aspirations.

ELIGIBILITY & AGE REQUIREMENTS: The Miss Chicago Pageant is an open pageant. You must reside, attend school full-time, or work full-time in Illinois. Contestants must be at least 17 years old and a graduating senior in high school and no older than 24 years old. The contestant must not be over 24 years of age by December 31st, 2010 to compete in Miss Illinois 2010. Contestant must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency or have successfully completed the academic requirements for entry into a four-year college/university degree program by the date of the Miss Illinois Pageant in June of 2010. CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK: The Miss America Organization’s national platform is the Children’s Miracle Network. As such, all contestants are required to raise $100.00 for the CMN to be eligible to compete. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Please register with the CMN at missamerica4kids.com to begin your fundraising efforts. If you are having difficulty with this requirement, please contact us. We will do our best to assist you in fulfilling the requirement.  DRESS REHEARSAL: Rehearsal will be announced.

PHOTOS: A 4” x 6” (minimum) photo of headshot (head and shoulders only) must be submitted via email. This will be used to identify you and for the program book. If you need a photographer, please email photos@kimberleebphotography.com. TICKETS: All seating is first come, first served (with the exception of our V.I.P. Sponsors). Full ticket information is coming soon. CONGRATULATORY ADS: Contestants are encouraged to submit ads for the program book. Additional details will follow. ** Please remember that profits from ad sales increase the amount of scholarship dollars available for contestants!!
