Uninstall and

Reinstall

WordPress


Whether you’ve taken over

a domain


but don’t wish to keep the

old content


or you’re just looking to

start over from scratch


you can delete a WordPress

installation from cPanel.


Here is an easy way

on how to


Uninstall WordPress and

start from scratch.


Let’s begin…


Open a browser


Go to your site’s cPanel


Log in your account


Look for the

FILE BROWSER


In my case, it’s the

FILE MANAGER


Click on File Manager


The File Manager will open

in new tab.


It will look like this


Click on public_html folder


Now it will show your

WordPress files.


Click on

Select All


Click on Delete


A confirmation window will

appear.


Tick the Skip the trash

check box


Click on Confirm


Now the folder directory is

empty


After they have been

deleted,


Click on

the

cPanel

Logo


to go back to your cPanel

main page.


Find your MySQL database

section and click it.


It will show

you

something

like this


Now you will delete the

WordPress database table.


Look for Current Databases

section.


Click on Delete.


A confirmation page will

appear.


Click on Delete Database


Once deleted, you will see a

confirmation message.


Now click home on the

upper left corner.


to go back to your cPanel

main page.


Click MySQL database

again.


Now you will delete the

WordPress database user.


On the

MySQL

Databases

page,


scroll down and look for the

Current Users section


then click on Delete


A

confirmation

page will

appear


Click on Delete User


Once deleted,

you will see a

confirmation

message.


That’s it!


You have successfully

Uninstalled WordPress.


Your website should look

like this.


You are now ready to

Reinstall WordPress.


There are many ways on

how to install wordpress…


In this tutorial we are using

HostGator.


To reinstall WordPress…


Go to your site’s cPanel


Log in your account


On cPanel’s main page,


Scroll down and look for

SOFTWARE section.


then click on QuickInstall.


Under the Marketplace

category,


click on One Click Installs.


Then click on

WordPress.


Install Wordpress page will

appear.


Click on the drop down icon


and select your domain

name.


For in the directory field,


type the name of a new

directory you would like

created.


You can type in here wp for

example


Wordpress will be

installed in

http:// domainame.com/wp

directory


If you leave this blank,


Wordpress will be installed

in your main directory,

http://domainame.com/


then click on Next.


Fill in the

informations

needed


Don’t think too much of

what to put...


in the Blog Title box, you

can change that


later on in your

WordPress Admin site.


Pro Tip:

Don’t use Admin as Admin

Username because every

hacker knows this.


Once all are filled in,


tick Terms of Service

Agreement.


Then click Install Now.


Now, your installation is

Complete


Pro Tip:

Make sure you have a copy

of the Admin Username and

Password


After you have written down

your Username and

Password,


click home

on the upper

left corner.


Then click on Marketplace.


Under

Marketplace,

click My

Installs.


Account Installs page will

appear.


Change your password by

clicking Reset Password


Pro Tip:

Use Uppercase, Lowercase,

Numbers and Special

Characters to make a

VERY STRONG PASSWORD


Once done, click Update

Password


You can now Log in by

clicking Admin Login


Now, you will be redirected

to your WordPress Log In

site


Type in your

Username and

Password, then

click Log In


Congratulations!


WordPress is now

Reinstalled.


You are now ready to build a

brand new website.
