Step 1: Safety First

• Before starting any work, first unplug the garage door opener

• Make sure you wear safety glasses or sun glasses to protect your eyes

Step 2: Inspection

• Examine the door springs to check for wear.

Step 3: Replace Door Spring

• First remove braided wire from spring hook end

• Next, Unhook Spring

Step 3 (cont.): Replace Door Spring

• Take apart door spring pulley using channel lock pliers and socket wrench

• Remove braided wire from pulley end of door frame

Step 3 (cont.): Replace Door Spring

• Attach new spring hook end first

• Then attach pulley and feed new braided wire through spring

• Tie braided wire on hook end first

• Then tie spring pulley end

Step 4: Remove Trolley Attachment

• Remove trolley attachment from door using channel lock pliers and socket wrench

Remove these two screws

Step 5: Remove Opener Power Wires

• Remove opener power wires with a screwdriver

Loosen these screws

Step 6: Remove Opener Support Bolts

• Position ladder under opener and remove support bolts using channel lock pliers and socket wrench

Remove these bolts

Step 7: Remove chain

• Remove chain housing• Loose chain by loosening

tension screw, then remove chain from drive gear

Step 8: Replace Opener

• Remove bolts from opener to detach opener from trolley bar

• Attach new opener to trolley bar Remove

these bolts

Step 9: Tighten Chain

• Place chain around drive gear and tighten chain tensioner screw

Step 10: Mount New Opener

• Raise new opener and attach to support brackets with bolts.

• Tighten bolts with socket wrench and channel lock pliers

• Re-attach trolley attachment

Tighten these bolts

Step 11: Power New Opener

• Attach power wires to new opener

• Plug in new opener• Test out new opener and

adjust according to manufacturer directions
