HOW TO LOG INTO MOODLE, ACCESS KALTURA TRAINING PAGE
OR COURSE PAGE & ADD CONTENT
1. Go to https://moodle.ukzn.ac.za/ 2. Click Login (Top Right)
3. Enter your Username and LAN login password, Click Login
4. Click My Courses (Top Left) Select the Course you wish to add content to.

5. Once in your Course Page, you can Turn Editing On (Top Right) to add content to the page.
6. After you have turned editing on you will notice that you can now edit each section/topic in this case “Your Name” Click Add an activity or resource, the Activity Chooser will open,

7. Scroll down to Resources. Select Kaltura Video Resource and click Add
8. Select Add Media

9. The first time you use Kaltura, you will be prompted to download the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder, Click Download for Windows/Download for Mac
The preferred browser is Google Chrome/Firefox
10. After the download has completed, you may locate the installation file in your Downloads folder, since this is usually the default location for all downloads.
11. Double click the installation file to begin installing the software, Click Next

14. The installation will begin and you will be able to view the status
15. Click Finish

16. Click Open Kaltura Capture
My Media Contains content that you have uploaded and is only available to you
Media Gallery Allows to switch between the different media galleries for each of your modules
Shared Repository Allows sharing of content between Academics, Institution wide. An example would be a Turnitin “how to” video for students.
Media Gallery Playlist Creates playlists of related videos, similar to YouTube playlists
17. To create a new Kaltura capture, click Add New, Kaltura Capture

Record Button The big red button is used to record
Screen Click the drop-down arrow to select your screen if you are using multiple screens
Camera Click the drop-down arrow to select the camera you wish to use as well as preview the camera, click on the camera icon to switch the camera on or off
Audio Click the drop-down arrow to select the audio device you wish to use, click on the audio icon to switch the audio on or off

Recording Menu Explained
Stop Stops the recording
Pause Pauses the recording
X Cancels the recording
Timer Displays the duration of the recording
Audio Displays if the mic is turned on or off
Pen Opens the Whiteboard

19. Once you have completed recording, Click Stop & confirm that you are stopping recording. You will see a preview of the screen and your picture if your camera was switched on.
20. You can press Play to preview your recording
21. Enter a Title for the recording
22. Enter a Description
23. Provide the necessary Tags
Delete You may delete the recording if you are unhappy with it.

Save & Upload Saves and uploads the recording
Save Saves the recording

24. You are now ready to embed the video in Moodle, Follow steps 5-8. Your recording will be available in My Media, Click Embed
25. Provide a Name for your video, this field is mandatory. Enter an optional Description
26. Click Save & Return to Course/ Save and Display or Cancel. 27. If you wish to replace the media select Replace Media

28. Turn Editing off (Top Right)
29. To test how the Student will view your video, click on your Name (Top Right) Select Switch Role to…

31. You can play the video to get the Student’s experience
32. Once you are done you may return to your normal role. Click on your Name (Top Right) Select Return to my Normal Role
Returning to your Normal Role will allow you to edit your page accordingly.

ADDING MEDIA TO MEDIA GALLERY
33. Select Media Gallery in the Navigation Panel (Right)
34. Click Add Media
35. Click Add New and Select Media Upload

36. You may upload media by Drag & Drop or Using the File Picker
37. Click Choose File to Upload
38. Select the file you want to upload and Click Open
39. After the file has uploaded, provide a Name, Description and Tags. Click Save

ADDING EXPRESS CAPTURE TO MEDIA GALLERY
40. Follow steps 33 & 34
41. Click Add New and select Express Capture
42. Your webcam will open, Click the Red Dot to begin recording

43. When you are done recording Click Stop
44. At This point you may choose to: Record again Will begin a new recording Download Copy Will download a copy locally (Downloads folder on your PC) Use This Uses the current recording

45. Provide a Name, Description and necessary Tags for your video and Click Save
46. If you wish to view your recording Click Go to Media Gallery
Your recording will now be available in the Media Gallery

ADDING A YOUTUBE VIDEO TO MEDIA GALLERY
47. Follow steps 33 & 34
48. Click Add New and Select YouTube
49. Paste the YouTube link in Video Page Link, Click Preview to ensure that the correct video has been loaded. The Name and Description is automatically filled in. You may enter Tags that apply to the video. Click Save
NOTE: To embed any recording/capture/video to your Moodle course page you are required to follow steps 5-8
