The city of Dieppe, renowned for its gastronomy, for its scallops, its pebbles and its medieval architectural heritage, (is the perfect location as) we wanted to give a historical image to the various opens we are about to host.

In 910, the Vikings settled at the mouth of La Tella, now called Arques which is a deep river that flows into the port of Dieppe. Under the Restoration, Dieppe opens onto the sea, con-demning the fortifications (the Turrets). In 1822, the first "bathing establishment" of France was installed on the

beach and took the name of Caroline baths in honor of Caroline de Bourbon, Duchess of Berry, daughter-in-law of King Charles X. In 1824, she inaugurated the fashion of bathing at Dieppe, until 1829.

During the 13th Festival, we consulted the players in order to find out their pref-erences regarding the location of the open. Opinions were shared but the vote finally led to the decision to return to the waterfront so that the players take full advantage of our beautiful city which is located on the Alabaster coast.

The distribution of ELOs on different Opens evolves due to the progression of players, and in particular to offer high-level players the opportunity to obtain stan-dards. The young open becomes an opened Open to all for the -1500 ELO and the senior + tournament becomes the Open Kings +50 years.

We will distribute more prizes in the tournament "Les Tourelles" to reward the categories between 1700 and 2000 ELO.
