WHAT WE DID

HOT• We made a Lego box to put

the can in it. Then we put up on top of the self in Mrs. Denman’s room. We used convection.

COLD• We took it out side. Then we

put it between the doors so the wind would cool it off it quicker. Then the door was touching the sides. We used convection and conduction.

COLD CAN THERMAL SYSTEM

THE COLD CAN WAS PUT OUTSIDE IN THE COLD WIND

THE COLD WIND USED CONVECTION TO COOL THE CAN EVEN MORE

THEN WE PUT IT IN BETWEEN THE TWO METAL DOORS BY THE GREEN HOUSE AND USED CONDUCTION TO COOL IT EVEN MORE

HOT CAN INFORMATION

• WE USED MS. DENMANS ROOM TO ATTEMPT TO HEAT OUR HOT CAN USING THE EXTREME HEAT CONVECTION IN HER ROOM. DUE TO A LIMITED TIME SPAN WE ONLY GOT TO DO 20 MINUTES OF THE PROJECT, BUT BECAUSE THE HOTEST PLACE IN THE ROOM WAS RIGHT BY THE DOOR THE HOT CAN DROPED FROM 40 DEGREES TO 36.9 DEGREES. OUR HOT CAN PART OF THE PROJECT FAILED. I WOULD MODIFY OUR PLAN BY PUTTING THE CAN UNDER GROUND ON A HOT DAY. THIS IS USED IN REAL LIFE WITH COMPOST PILES.

COLD CAN INFORMATION

• WE USED CONDUCTION AND CONVECTION TO COOL THE COLD CAN. WHAT WE DID WAS WE USED THE METAL DOUBLE DOORS BY THE GREENHOUSE AND STUCK THE CAN IN BETWEEN THE DOOR, THE DOORS CAUSED A RAPID COOLING PROCESS THE CAN WENT FROM 40 DEGREES TO 27.6 DEGREES. THIS PART OF THE PROCESS WAS A SUCCESS UNLIKE THE HOT CAN. TO IMPROVE OUR RESULTS I WOULD COVER THE CAN WITH DRY ICE. THIS FUNCTION OF CONDUCTION IS USED IN REAL LIFE IN FREEZERS
