Horror movie poster analysis

• In this movie poster it looks like the colours have been desaturated (drained) and in the middle there is light peeking from in between the trees to show the killer with the rest of it black.

• The font of the title is the only thing that stands out because it’s red and it looks destressed, kind of worn also the title looks like its been folded over. On top of the title is a tag That says ‘from the producers of the Texas chainsaw massacre.

• Underneath the title there is a billing block, this has got the director, producers name and sometimes the actors and actresses who are in the movie. In every movie poster there is the release date and in the poster the date is red just like the title.

• Right at the top there is another little tag, something that says something about the movie and in this poster it says ‘welcome to crystal lake’.

• This poster has a desaturated colour scheme and it has a lack of colour.

The two main colour that have been used are grey and red, the colour red is in almost every horror poster and it is to indicate death/murder. There is a person and that could be the killer but she is anonymous.• In the title the font that was used is like a

smudged, dripping blood effect. So its like someone has poured water over it. Underneath the title is a little tag that says ‘Once you see him, nothing can save you.’

• Right on top of the poster is another little tag that says ‘From the producers of Paranormal activity and insidious’ this is to tell the audience what other movies the producer has made.

• At the bottom of it is a billing block and they appear in every poster it just tells you the director and producers name, also the company. instead of a date it comes out it says ‘coming soon’.

• This movie posters colour scheme is boring and bland. It has been taken place in the woods, it is mainly white and grey with a little bit of black on it.

• For the title the font looks like a destressed, scratched out effect to it and its not a bright colour like red its just black not like other movie posters where to title is red.

• At the top of the title is a tag that says ‘You think you know the story’. Almost all movies have one of these.

• At the bottom again is a billing block about the company. The directors and the producers names are on it, also the date it comes out on ‘April 13’.

• The font of the title looks like blood because the ‘y’ is going all the way down like blood dripping, the colour of it is bright red with bits of orange in it.
