All About Us

A Fun Way to Learn

Read On

Each week, students in P.1-P.3 participate in our reading and writing program, the PLP/R-W. Students visit Mr. John in the large tailored English room to learn. During lessons, each unit is focused around a big book that revolves around

a new language feature and new phonics sounds. Students read, sing and dance their way through the work in these interactive lessons. This year, P.1 students baked cakes and made a mask, P.2 students sent posts cards and P.3 students produced a magazine, and that’s just a few of the fun activities we did!

Mr. Chris has been working hard to improve the English skills of our P.4-P.6 students. In reading-based lessons, they explore interesting books in depth. Learning in class consists of role-playing, fun and interactive games and small group projects. Students then use their newly acquired language and skills to produce written work and oral presentations. The interactive nature of these classes has meant that students have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and learned with a smile.

On a Weekly Basis A Cornerstone of English

Mr. John and Mr. Chris both hold an English Corner in each Campus. Here, small groups of students get to practice their oral skills in a more exciting and interactive setting. From team challenges to guessing games, the English Corner continues to be a popular way to learn English with those that attend.

An English Start to the Day

Cultural Exchanges

We also hold frequent English sharings during our morning assemblies. With topics ranging from World Issues to Student’s Daily lives, students are exposed to new and interesting vocabulary outside of their classrooms. Students also have chance to perform their own sharings too. With quizzes, questions, prizes and student performances, these highly interactive sessions continue to be a hit with students and are always a great way to start a day’s learning!

Building on the popularity of the Campus TV, our students have also done some short video exchanges with a primary school in England. Students from both schools discussed and compared their own cultures, school lives and daily lives of each culture. Our students loved the videos and learned a lot.

Game On

English Campus TV

During recess, some fun game stalls are set up for students to play whilst still practicing their English. Students complete riddles, language

questions and tricky tongue teasers, with the successful ones winning a prize. The game stalls have been a huge success and always have big groups of students waiting to play.

This year, 15 students from P.4 to P.6 have been working alongside Mr. John in the English Campus TV Team. These students put their English skills to the test by planning short videos, writing scripts and filming short videos in our state of the art TV studio.

The English Game Show

Interviews, Interviews, And More Interviews!

Mr. John and Mr. Chris hosted an English Game Show for each campus to end the English Week. Students took part in interactive iPad question rounds, and the audience got to play several exciting games. To the student's delight, winners of the games got to choose some special items of clothing for Mr. John and Mr. Chris. In the end, the show was a great success. After all, how often do you get to see Mr. John and Mr. Chris wearing a tutu!

P.6 students were taught in-depth skills to excel during secondary school interviews. After getting a grasp of the basics, students were put to the test with visits from secondary school interviewers, and visits to secondary schools for more authentic interview practice. By the end, all students had made great progress and felt more confident about their real interviews.

A Whole Week of English

This year we held an entire English week in order to promote a richer English culture in our school. Each day, students had to follow English line-up instructions and all prefects used English exclusively. English programs were played during mornings and recesses, and a different English sharing was held each day. Furthermore, English game stalls were held during both recesses. The week proved to be very popular, with students picking up new language quickly. To wrap up the English week, we held an English Game Show.

Even More English

Speak OutMany students joined this year’s Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, entering the solo verse speaking. Individuals or small groups of students practiced their assigned poems with their class English teacher, Mr. John and Mr. Chris. They worked hard to perfect pronunciation, intonation and expression in

school before their final performance. All students did well on the day, with countless merits and some runner up positions too!

Off Campus English!

Oh, the Drama!

A Disney Day Out

We joined the Hong Kong Drama Festival this year. With a small group of 15, our students worked hard to produce What Happened To Our Headmaster?, a story about a principal who goes crazy after drinking a bewitched coffee. Not only did the students learn their lines and perform their parts, but they also worked alongside parents to produce the props and costumes! In the end the hard work paid off with the group receiving four awards; Award for Outstanding Performer, Award for Outstanding Stage Effects, Award for Outstanding Cooperation and Award for Commendable Overall Performance. What a great job, well done!

At the end of April, students with exceptional English grades went to Disneyland as a reward for all their hard work. Using English medium, 45 students from P.5 and P.6 learned about the different elements of synergy. They learned interactively, participating in group activities, playing games for information and watching shows and performances. After they had finished learning about synergy, they had lunch and went to ride the roller coasters! They even

saved some time for souvenir shopping. It was a busy day of learning, but everyone still managed to make time for lots of fun!

All Together Now

This year, a group of students joined the Choral Speaking competition. The students learned to use dynamics, pitch, tempo, tone and voice projection in unison to produce one fluid piece. Add in some clever actions and gestures, and the result was some highly entertaining choral speaking! This year, the students performed exceptionally and made us proud.
