HONORING
Antonio “Tony” Campos July 31, 2015Fresno Convention Center, Exhibit Hall
2015Ag OneCommunity Salute
In 1979, several faculty, alumni and friends of the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology had a million-dollar idea – to start a foundation that would benefit, promote and support the college and its programs. The supporters set out to raise $1 million in endowed funds. Today, the Ag One endowment fund is comprised of over 100 named funds totaling approximately $17 million.
One of the programs that has contributed to this success is the Community Salute. Since 1987, the Community Salute has honored extraordinary individuals for their devoted service to California agriculture and food systems industries as well as unwavering commitment to our community.
We are delighted to honor Mr. Antonio “Tony” Campos in 2015. Guided by his traditional values, Campos continues to exceed in the agriculture industry while maintaining an active role in supporting his community which makes him an undeniable recipient of this recognition. Proceeds will establish the Ag One – Antonio “Tony” Campos endowment to support deserving students and/or programs in the Jordan College at California State University, Fresno.
Over the years, donors, board members and volunteers have made it possible to award some 3,500 students with over $2.5 million in scholarships and grants. For the current academic year, Ag One will provide approximately $500,000 to deserving students and programs.
Ag One Community Salute
Ag One cordially invites you to join us, Bank of the West and other generous sponsors to honor Tony Campos. Born
in Orondritz, Spain, located in the northern Basque region, Tony immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and became a sheepherder. Four years later, he and his older brothers, Esteban and Fermin, started farming vineyards near Caruthers. In 1971, they started growing almonds, and today the company stands as an industry leader in almond production and processing.
He still lives on the original farm with his wife, Juliet, where they work side-by-side with their three children, Jeannine, Joseph and Steven, in the operation. Together, they manage all aspects of the company with the same passion and family values that were established with Tony and his brothers.
Tony has been an active leader in the agricultural community, serving on several volunteer organizations. He has served on the Almond Board of California, Raisin Bargaining Association, Raisin Administrative Committee,
