RULES1. Local and State Rules govern this competition.

2. Exhibitors are responsible for reading the Competition Guidelines and must abide by them.

3. If you need assistance, please contact the Exhibits Office at (714) 708-1553 or email [email protected]. Inquiries will be responded to within 72 business hours.

4. Entry fees are non-refundable

There will be no refunds for any reason. By entering the competition you are confirming that you accept the no-refund policy.

5. All Entries Must Be Homemade Beers brewed at a brew-on-premises or at a commercial brewery or brewpub are not eligible.

6. Beers Not Consumed• Beers not consumed during the judging may not be reclaimed.• All beers not advancing to the Best of Show judging will be given away (by the case) at the end of judging to

participating judges and stewards.

7. Bottles• Submit three (3) 10-ounce to 14-ounce glass bottles per entry. • Bottles as small as 7 ounce or 8 ounce are acceptable for mead and cider entries.• Bottles may be of any color but must be free of ink, paint or any paper-labeling, other than competition entry

labels. • Bottles with raised lettering and logos are acceptable. • Grolsch-type, swing-top bottles and 22-ounce bottles will not be accepted. • Obliterate any lettering or graphics on the cap with a permanent black marker.

8. Labeling Attach a competition label (see page 6) to each bottle with a rubber band. Do not tape or glue identification forms to the bottles. Any entry with a label glued or taped will be disqualified.

ELIGIBILITYOpen to California residents ages 21 and older. Commercial brewing personnel are not permitted to enter, but other brew-ery personnel may enter. Competition staff, judges and stewards are eligible to enter. Judges and stewards may not partic-ipate in the judging of their own entries. Safeguards will be taken to prevent judges from knowing who brewed the entries they are judging.

ENTRy LIMIT •5 entries per exhibitor •1 entry per Class• Exhibitors may submit multiple entries per Division, but only one per Class.• Two people maximum per team is allowed and will count as one entry in the Class for each individual (i.e. either one

individual entry or one team entry per Class per exhibitor).• Refunds will not be issued for entries received beyond limit. • The online system will allow you to submit more than the limits placed but we will delete any entries that don’t follow

the restrictions based on the last submitted.• For clarification, please see the 2015 BJCP Guidelines.

OC Exhibitor FAIR TICKET• Exhibitors will receive one (1) 2018 OC Fair admission ticket that can be picked up at the OC Fair’s Blue Gate Guest

Relations Booth, located inside the Main Gate entrance on Fair Drive, during the public hours of the 2018 OC Fair (Wednesday-Sunday).`

• One (1) ticket per exhibitor, not one per entry. • Tickets are valid any day the Fair is open.

HOW TO ENTEROnline Entry Deadline: Sunday, May 6, 20181. Review the Homebrew Category Rules and OC Fair Guidelines.2. Choose from the Divisions and Classes listed on pages 7-12.3. Enter online at ocfair.fairmanager.com and pay the entry fee (per entry).

Exhibitor Name• Entries must be made under the name of the individual(s) who brewed it.• Do not use business or fictitious names. • Last year’s accounts are no longer valid. All exhibitors must create a new account.• Do not put name of beer on the label or online entry form.

Entry Confirmation • An email notification and confirmation will be sent immediately after your online payment is received.• If the email confirmation does not arrive shortly after submitting payment, please check your Spam/Junk folder before

contacting the OC Fair.

Entry Fees• The entry fee is $5 per entry and is payable online with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Amex). • No refunds will be issued.

judgingJudgesQualified judges will be selected by the Event Coordinator to judge all exhibits and their decision is final. If you are interested in judging or becoming a steward for the 2018 competition, apply here for judges and here for stewards.

Judging CriteriaEntries will be judged according to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines, available online at www.bjcp.org.

Reassignment & Combining of Entry Division or ClassAll entries will be judged based on the Class in which they were entered. It is the responsibility of the brewer to enter a beer in the correct Class and provide all of the entry information that the judges will need in order to evaluate the beer correctly. The competition organizers may combine related, or unrelated, Divisions and/or Classes in order to provide adequately sized or more equitably sized award categories.

Disqualified EntriesIf an entry is disqualified after judging is complete, the judge will not change the status of awards given for other entries.

• Judging score sheets will be available for pick up, with a photo ID, any day of the Fair.• Exhibitors will be mailed remaining awarded ribbons, score sheets and prizes within 30 days after the end of the OC

Fair.

Judging Results• All winning entries will be displayed in the OC Promenade.• Results will be posted online on the first day of the OC Fair, by noon, at www.ocfair.com/results. • Please do not call or email for competition results.

Awards Ceremony Saturday, July 14

• Hosted on the OC Promenade Main Stage• First Place Winners and the Best of Show will be invited to and recognized at the ceremony. • Invitations will be sent to the mail address provided at entry registration. Expect an invite in the first week of July.• All exhibitors and the general public are welcome to attend the ceremony.

Styles Requiring Additional Information: • Entries in categories 621B, 623F, 624C, 625B, and 627-634, and 641-646 require additional entry information to

be evaluated properly. Please refer to the 2015 BJCP Beer, Mead, and Cider guidelines to determine what additional entry information is required.

• Use the “Description” field of the online entry form to provide this information. Failure to provide the required information may result in the entry being misevaluated or disqualified. For categories that don’t require additional information, please leave the “Description” field blank; the unnecessary information will need to be eliminated and the judges will not see it.

• If you have special instructions for the judges (e.g. request that the judges roll a bottle of Belgian Wit before serving), these may be included in the Description section.
