• Report Cards are issued at the end of each grading period – about 1 week after the end of the

USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES

As per the Code of Student Conduct, Possessing a wireless communication device is not a violation of the Code of Student Conduct. However, a student shall not disrupt the educational

process or interfere with the safety-to-life issues of students by using a wireless communication device inappropriately.

When using electronic devices for the purposes of learning consistent with the educational objectives of the District during the instructional

day, students must comply with Board Policy 7540.03, Student Network and Internet Acceptable Use and Safety.

The possession of a cellular telephone is not a violation of the Code of Student Conduct. However, the possession of a cellular telephone

that disrupts the educational process, the use of the cellular telephone capabilities during school hours, use of a cellular phone

to commit a crime, and the possession or use of a cellular telephone that disrupts or interferes with the safety-to-life issue for

students being transported on a Miami-Dade County Public Schools bus, are infractions of the Code of Student Conduct.

• Students are expected to come to school with proper attention having been give to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress.

• Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their school work shall be required to make the necessary alterations to such attire or grooming before entering the classroom or be sent home by the principal to be properly prepared for school.

UNIFORM DRESS CODE

Tops:

• Polo style shirts with collars are required. Acceptable colors: orange, black and hunter green. Emblems are highly encouraged.

• Only white or black undershirts may be worn under uniform shirts.

• Club, Magnet, Activity or Team/Spirit T-shirts are to be worn on Fridays ONLY. Bottoms:

• Black or khaki full length pants only (Docker Style) worn at the waist. (No jeggings, spandex, crops or capris).

• Black or khaki knee length shorts. (Pants with finished hems only. Torn or elastic pant hems are not acceptable.)

Jackets / Sweaters:

• Colors include solid black, orange, gray, or green. • Hoods are not permitted over the head

• Only SMMCS emblems are highly encouraged on the jackets. Shoes:

• Only tennis shoes or sneakers are allowed.

• Must have closed heels and toes. • No sandals, jellies, platforms, slippers, clogs, thong slides, or shoes without back

straps

TARDIES & EARLY SIGN-OUT All tardies are unexcused unless student submits a doctor’s

note or parent note upon arrival to school

Students must report to the Main Office if they are tardy

Once a student reaches 4 unexcused tardies, disciplinary consequences will begin

Early Sign out – Please note that when students are picked up early, they miss valuable instruction from their classes

Students are not allowed to be signed out within 30 minutes of the end of the school day – latest early sign out time is 2:30 p.m.

Once students reach a combined 10 days of tardies/early release, students will no longer be eligible to attend field trips/extracurricular activities

SCHOOL SAFETY AND TRAFFIC REMINDERS As we strive to keep the school community safe at all times

remember:

• ALL visitors must show ID and Sign-In and Out upon

entering/leaving school grounds and display the issued visitor

pass.

• ALL volunteers/boosters MUST also sign-in at the main office and

indicate where they will be volunteering in designated binder.

• Parents must update and have current volunteer number in

order to attend field trips.

• Teacher’s Parking Lot IS NOT a drop off area. Gate will be locked.

• Pick-up and Drop-off lane ONLY on 60th Street – Only Main FRONT

GATE will be open – starting at 7:00 a.m.

• Please do not make U-Turns from arrival/dismissal lanes and

please, respect our school neighbors. Do Not Park in Driveways

or Lawns.

• Once students come into the school building, they are not

allowed to walk out or leave school campus.
