Former  Wildcat wide receiver and long timeassistant coach Joker Phillips was formally named head coach January 6, 2010 afterRich Brooks' retirement. Phillips tookKentucky to the BBVA Compass Bowl inBirmingham, Alabama in his first season asa head coach, losing to Big East Conferenceco-champion Pittsburgh 27-10.

Former Wildcat wide receiver and longtime assistant coach and associate headcoach Joker Phillips was formally namedhead coach January, 6, 2010 after Brooks'retirement. Kentucky started off strongunder Phillips with a win on the roadagainst arch rival Louisville. The 2010squad snapped a long standing losing

streak to South Carolina Coach SteveSpurrier by defeating the Gamecocks atCommonwealth Stadium. However, they dropped games to both Ole Miss andMississippi State, lost to a Florida teamon a down year and once again failed tobeat its other arch rival Tennessee, havinglost 26 in a row to the Vols, the longest

losing streak by one team to another incollege football.

On November 26, 2011, Kentucky snapped the longest FBS losing streak toany one team by defeating the Tennessee

 Vols 10-7 at Commonwealth Stadium.
