Message from Pastor Josh
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though man, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” -I Corinthians 12:12-13
Grace and peace to you.
For the last few months we have been praying for Messiah Lutheran Church, Redwood City. We have been praying that the Holy Spirit would help them to discern their future as a congregation. Part of their discernment has been whether it would be best for their congregation to merge with another. With the council’s approval I have been talking with their Interim Pastor and Council President about the possibilities of our congregations to merge. We are still at the very preliminary stages of these conversations, after all you can’t start dating someone before you get to know them a little bit.
With a potential merger comes securing a Lutheran presence in the area into the future, new ministries, and new exciting opportunities that were not necessarily possible before. It could also bring a lot of questions, fears and anxieties. Nothing has been decided.
We are currently planning on meeting together with both councils and discerning together what this could look like. We will also be having some forums to relay our hopes, dreams, questions, fears, and anxieties. My hope is that we would be open to God possibly doing a new thing here, but we can’t know this until we discern what God’s Spirit is doing amongst us. I have full faith that our congregation will come to a decision that is in alignment with God’s will for us. I am not sure what the future holds, but I’m sure that God is there.
The Rev. Joshua Serrano

All are Welcome! Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in San Carlos celebrates and shares God’s gifts by worshipping together, caring for each other, and doing God’s work in the community and beyond.
We believe that Christ has made us one body with many members, sharing in God’s grace and unconditional love.
We joyfully welcome ALL people, without exception — of every age, sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental ability, or anything else that divides us — to join with us in worship, learning, fellowship, prayer and service.
“For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. ... there is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26, 28
