July 28, 2019 By Joan DeMerchant Introduction Prayer has been a key component of faith for thousands of years. While prayer can be uniquely personal, today’s readings provide some essential and expansive insights about it from both Judaism and early Christianity. Abraham and Jesus both extol the importance of persistence, and Jesus teaches us that prayer at its best is communal. We pray as one body of God’s people. Most profoundly, we dare to pray at all because God is loving and just. Prayer of the Faithful We are a praying people, and we pray now for the needs of the whole world.
Minister For the church in need of prayer and renewal; for those who have been hurt by the church; and those — ordained or lay — who will lead us forward, we pray: • For those who do not know how to pray or have no community to pray with; for the imprisoned or endangered, sick or lonely, discouraged or depressed, we pray: • For those who have lost faith in the power of prayer, or for whom prayer has become automatic or formulaic; and for parishes where liturgy or prayer experiences are rushed or impersonal, we pray: • For those who believe that God must respond to our wishes and requests, or who believe that God prefers particular languages or postures; for openness to new approaches to prayer, we pray: • For those called to lead and enrich the prayer of the community; for pastors and liturgists, liturgical ministers and musicians, teachers and writers; and for parents teaching their children to pray, we pray: • For all in this community who need someone to pray for them; and for the awareness that we might be the answer to prayer for someone in need, we pray: PRAYER: Loving God, we dare to come to you as we have been taught, connected to one another and to you through prayer. The boldness of our ancestors precedes us, and we trust in whatever outcomes you grant us. We do this in the name of Jesus, who encourages us to pray. Amen.

PRAYER DURING TIMES OF PERSONAL ILLNESS
O glorious Saint Pio, through the countless miracles attributed to your intercession, you have shown a generous and compassionate heart and a great love for the sick. Be with me during this time of poor health, and accompany me as I face sickness and the uncertainties of infirmity. Help me to experience God’s healing power through your prayers, as well as my own. As you did in bearing the five wounds of Christ Crucified, lead me to unite himself to His Cross, so that this suffering brings spiritual benefit to me and to others. May my bearing the cross of illness here on earth, prepare me for the eternal joys of perfect happiness and full-ness of life with God forever in Heaven. -Amen

HOLY FAMILY PARISH 17th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
O poder da Oração. 17º Dom Tempo Comum (Ano C): Gênesis 18,20- 32; Salmo 138(137);
Colossenses 2,12-14; Lucas 11,1-13

Everyone can help end Parkinson’s disease. That's why I've registered for the 12th annual New England Parkinson's Ride on Saturday, September 7, 2019 where over 1,000 cyclists will gather to help pedal closer to a cure.
Last year with your help I was able to raise $1,450 and Howell Team reached over $12,000. With your support this year
I hope we can go over this mark.
An estimated five million people worldwide live with Parkinson's today. It is the second most common neurological dis-order. In the United States, approximately 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure.
Together, we can change this.
Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
(MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox
fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s. When you give today, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds go straight to MJFF’s programmatic efforts.
Thank you for supporting the New England Parkinson's Ride and the mission of The Michael J. Fox Foundation to help
speed a cure for Parkinson's! https://www.neparkinsonsride.com
