Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time 2

Mateo 5, 3

“Let my prayer come into your presence incline your ear to my cry for help, O Lord.” Psalm 88 (87):3

Jesus contrasts the behavior of the rich people with a poor widow. In today’s Gospel, Jesus contrasts the behavior of the rich people with a poor widow. He used the occasion of people depositing donations in the Temple treasury to point out to the disciples a very important lesson about true love. According to Jesus, it meant nothing for the people who had great wealth to give large amounts to the treasury. They were, in fact, giving from what they had left over. In contrast, the poor widow who, though among the poorest, gave all she had to live on. We don’t know what became of her, but she had great trust to be able to share despite her uncertain future. Jesus tells us that she gave from the little she had. It was a real act of generosity, a real act of love. How generous are we with our recourses, our time, our treasure, the gifts and talents that the Lord has bestowed on us? Christianity is about giving back, sharing with those in need, loving our neighbor and trusting that God will take care of us. Sometimes our love can be a selfish love. We receive, but we don’t give anything back. Do we really TRUST in God’s providence for us? We must love in a spirit of sacrifice. The Gospel challenges us to give more of ourselves out of love for the Lord and others. Little things given out of selfless love shows to true face of love. Let us be generous in all that we have for the Lord will reward us with greater blessings. I ask you to continue to be generous with your gifts for Holy Family and our community. As we prepare for the Year of Mercy, let us continue to pray for all in need of God’s mercy, reconciliation, forgiveness and love. Blessings in the Lord, Fr Juan, Pastor. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom

of heaven.” Matthew 5:3

“Rejoice” - Upcoming Advent Program “Advent is a special time of year to gain spiritual fruits; particularly peace and joy. A special mediator of these graces is our Blessed Mother Mary. In her humanity, she responded with virtue in a special way when the Lord Jesus entered into her life. Her response teaches us lessons that we can best learn from her in the history of salvation. Ascension offers a new program specifically written to help Catholics prepare for Jesus’ birth as Mary did. It guides you through Mary’s experiences and encounters and sheds light on how they relate to our preparation for Christmas. This program is called Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Mary, from Fr. Mark Toups. It pairs thought-provoking and meaningful meditations with beautiful artwork and encouraging, inspirational videos. This year, we have the opportunity to share these engaging Marian Advent reflections in video and journal form through Ascension’s Rejoice! program. We will be holding an Advent Mission Night on November 30th at 7 PM in Nazareth Hall. It’s an opportunity to draw more intentionally into the season of Advent and to obtain the grace associated with Advent devotion. Join us for the first meeting on November 30th at 7 PM. We will continue to meet once a week to pray and discuss the meditations on Advent. If you are interested please email Fr. Tom at: [email protected], sign up in the Parish Office or talk to Rose Sy who will facilitate the program.
