UNDERSTANDING THE WORD

(First Reading: Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31)

When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls…. Give her a reward for her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

(Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6)

For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night….Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.

(Gospel: Matthew 25:14-30 or 25:14-15, 119-21)

Since you were faithful in small mat-ters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy…. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

REFLECTING ON THE WORD

Live as children of the light, alert, sober, and ready whenever the Christ returns…. Remain in the spirit and multiply the gifts God has given. Then we can hear God say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

The inner word: What’s in Your Heart? Today’s Focus: All Good Gifts

Everyone has been given some gift or gifts by God. What differentiates us is the degree to which we use those gifts so they flourish and become of even greater use to those around us.

What are the gifts that God has given to you? Name some of them.

How do you make your gifts grow to give God thanks? What holds you back?

Mass Intentions: If you would like to have a Mass said in memory or in honor of a loved one, please use the re-quest forms which can be found at the church entrances.

Any personal injury on church proper ty, please make sure you call the office or speak to Fr. McGuirk.

Advent Window Candle: If you would like to reserve a window candle in honor or in memory of a loved one, please call the parish office. $25/candle.

Watch for These Upcoming Meetings at Holy Cross

When the times and dates for the following meetings are determined, they will be announced in future bulletins:

There will be an Ushers’ Meeting to discuss safety during Mass and other events occurring on the premises.

A meeting is being planned to discuss Nativity Displays in our community.
