E-LEARNING and DISTANCE LEARNING

Pearson Edexcel have introduced a fully interactive

e-learning solution for the core units of the HNC in

Business. This includes progress tests with instant

feedback, discussion forums to enable you to

communicate with other HNC in Business learners at

ETC, an interactive e-book, learning materials,

PowerPoint slides, and video content. The specialist

units have been designed by ETC. These include more

interaction with tutors via webinars, e-mails and Skype.

The learning resources can be accessed via a dedicated

login to our virtual learning environment (Moodle). This

is a combination of distance learning and e-learning.

Pearson Edexcel have not designed a full e-learning

solution for any of the specialist units. If they do so, ETC

will make these available to learners.

BLENDED LEARNING

The HNC in Business by blended learning is a

combination of e-learning, distance learning and

classroom delivery. Students can learn using the

e-learning and distance learning resources and attend

small group classroom sessions to consolidate their

learning, meet tutors face-to-face and receive lectures,

seminars and tutorials. The classroom sessions will be

arranged by mutual agreement at a time that is

convenient to group of students.

ASSESSMENT (e-learning and distance learning)

This programme will be assessed using written

assignments, reports and preparation of presentations

and handouts for an intended audience. Students will

also have the option to deliver and record their oral

presentation as an MP3 or wav file and submit it to

their tutor for assessment and feedback. Alternatively,

if students are within commutable distance of ETC’s

premises, they can arrange to deliver the presentation

to their tutor or to their tutor and a small group of

students. This ensures full flexibility of delivery options

to students.
