Match/Season Records/Team StatsChanges in the Husky Record BookIn 2001 rally scoring was instituted for all five games and the first four games were extended to 30 points. These changes shortened the average length of matches and lowered average statistics. Point scoring began in the 2001 season and is calculated by adding kills, service aces and blocks (k + sa + b = points).

Lisa Underhill collected block assists vs. Oregon on Oct. 9, 99 to tie Jackie Auzias de Turenne for the Washington match record.

Washington boasts an impressive - (.76) record at Bank of America Arena since head coach Jim McLaughlin took over the program in 00, includ-ing a - (.97) mark over the last three seasons. The Huskies enter the 007 season with a home match win streak- a program record.

Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion is the primary home for the Husky volleyball team. The facility underwent a $40 million, 19-month renovation between March of 1999 and Novem-ber of 2000 to reconfigure its interior and since then has become one of the most exciting venues for collegiate volleyball in the na-tion, boasting a top-6 national attendance average in each of the last three seasons.

Washington boasts an impressive 55-18 (.753) record at Bank of America Arena since head coach Jim McLaughlin took over the program in 2001, including a 38-1 (.974) mark over the last three seasons. The Huskies enter the 2007 season with a program record 31-match win streak at Bank of America Arena.

Bank of America Arena has been the host site of numerous NCAA Tournaments, including the 2004 and 2006 NCAA Regionals. Last season, Washington cruised through the regional to advance to its third consecutive NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship where it tied for third in the nation. The Huskies defeated Penn State in the NCAA Regional Championship in front of a school-record crowd of 6,846.

Originally completed in 1927, the arena renovation project in-creased capacity from 7,900 to 10,000 and did so in a way that only increased the arena’s intimacy. Gone are the infamous roof support pillars that obstructed views of the court. They were replaced by a pair of “super-trusses” that run the length of the building from east to west. Each super truss is 245-feet long, 30-inches in diameter and weighs 460,000 pounds. The Pavilion’s east end was converted into a practice court for the volleyball and basketball teams.

Adorning the west end of the Arena is the Founders’ Club and a new Hall of Fame room that proudly displays Washington’s outstanding athletic tradition. The expanded area offers much more public ac-cess to displays, trophies and historical information in addition to serving as a pregame and postgame reception area.

While the renovation of the main arena is stunning, the improve-ments to the support areas will greatly benefit Washington’s overall program. They have dramatically increased the space of the sports medicine center facilities, equipment rooms, meeting rooms, media accommodations and locker rooms for many of the UW’s teams, including a major overhaul of the volleyball locker room this past summer at the cost of approximately $300,000.

Washington hosted one of four NCAA Regional Tournaments last season, defeating Penn State in the championship to advance to its third-consecutive NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Home Court AdvantageThe Huskies are 23-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including a 12-1 mark when playing at home. Washington enters the season with an 11-match win streak in postseason matches played at Bank of America Arena, including Regional Championships in 2004 and 2006 to advance to the national semifinals.

Last season, Washington set the school record when 6,846 fans packed Bank of America Arena for the NCAA Regional Championship to watch the Huskies defeat Penn State 3-1 in what proved to be one of the most exciting atmospheres in recent collegiate volleyball history.
